  36. *  Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive.  An interactive shell 
  37.    will begin automatically.

  39. *  Click the "Install Personal Edition" icon.
  40.  
  41. Windows 3.1:

  43. *  Insert your CD.  From the Program Manager, select File | Run.
  44.    Enter the command

  46.        E:\install.exe

  48.    If your CD-ROM is not installed on drive E:\, type the letter
  49.    of your CD-ROM drive instead of E:\.
  50.  
  51. *  The interactive shell will begin.

  57. Known Problems in the Shell:
  58.  
  59. *  You must have at least a 256 color display to use the shell.  If 
  60.    you do not have a 256 color display, you may still install Netscape 
  61.    Personal Edition:

  63.    From the Windows 3.1 Program Manager, select File | Run.  Under
  64.    Windows 95, select the Start Menu | Run.  Enter the command:

  66.       E:\PEINSTL\SETUP.EXE
  67.  
  68.    If your CD-ROM is not installed on drive E:\, type the letter of
  69.    your CD-ROM drive instead of E:\.

  71. *  When you begin the shell, the shell may not display colors properly.

  73.    The shell may also affect colors in other applications.  Use the 
  74.    ALT-TAB key combination to move between applications.  Colors
  75.    should then be displayed properly.

  77. *  When you install Plug-Ins, the Shell will ask you which version of 
  78.    Windows you are using.

  82. KNOWN PROBLEMS

  84. * If your Internet service provider has given you a publishing URL
  85.   that has a tilde (~) in it, that means it is a relative path.  Netscape
  86.   Gold does not support the tilde character, so when you enter your
  87.   Publishing URL in the Account Setup Wizard for "I already have
  88.   a Service Provider" account path, substitute the tilde character and
  89.   your name with a period.  For example, if your FTP URL is:

  91. ftp://myname@ftp.someplace.com/~myname/public_html
  92.  
  93.   When you enter it into the Account Setup Wizard, you need to enter it as:
  94.  
  95. ftp://myname@ftp.someplace.com/./public_html
  96.  
  97.   instead.  This will allow the information to get stored into Gold
  98.   correctly.

  102. * The Discover Card appears in the list of supported cards, but
  103.   Netscape's Account Creation Server does not yet support the
