  5. This file contains information to help you make better use of 
  6. the Excalibur+ Premier overview demo.
  7.  
  8. The program requires a HARD DRIVE and a color system with CGA.  
  9. (It will run on EGA or VGA, but should not be run on a mono system.)
  10. It should not be run on a networked computer.  It will run best on a
  11. 286 machine.
  12.  
  13. PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE NEXT FEW PARAGRAHS CONTAINING IMPORTANT 
  14. INFORMATION ABOUT MEMORY RESIDENT PROGRAMS, OR "TSR's."

  17.                            TSR's
  18.  
  19. The demos were created using two demo software packages, both of which use 
  20. memory resident programs (TSR's.)  You should experience no problems with 
  21. them as long as your computer has no other TSR's loaded in memory.
  22.  
  23. You may run into conflicts with such programs as SideKick or Lightning.  
  24. Try it out or just make sure all such software is not loaded into memory
  25. before running the demo.
  26.  
  27. We've included some utilities useful in managing this type of software.
  28.  
  29. LOAD.COM lets you mark an address in RAM before loading in a TSR.  
  30. (Type LOAD).  Then you can later unload it without having to reboot the 
  31. computer.  This is done with the UNLOAD command.
  32.  
  33. You can use MAP.COM to get a "map" of your RAM.  Just type MAP.
  34.  
  35. You might add LOAD-- in front of any TSR's-- to your Autoexec.bat file.  
  36. Then you need only type UNLOAD to remove them at any time.

  38. Remember, if you have conflicts with other TSR's, you 
  39. should unload them before running the demo.

  43.                          INSTALLATION

  46. To install the demo on a hard disk, make a directory called PRDEMO, 
  47. change to that directory and put the first diskette in the A: drive.
  48. Type COPY A:*.* and press <ENTER>.  You don't have to retype this command
  49. for the other disk(s)-- just press the <F3> key (which retypes the last
  50. command entered into the system) and press <ENTER>.

  52. In more recent versions of DOS, you can save time by using XCOPY in place
  53. of COPY.

  57.                         RUNING THE DEMO
  58.

  60. To start the demo, make sure you're in the PRDEMO directory, then
  61. type PRDEMO and press <ENTER>.
  62.  
  63. Please be sure you run the demo several times and get very familiar
  64. with it before making your first presentation!  It's designed not to
  65. replace you as the demonstrator, but rather to give you a tool 
  66. which lets you go through the various parts of the demo, giving
  67. additional information which you will tailor to your client's needs.

  69. Remember, the secret is to find his major interest-- his biggest 
  70. need-- and then zero in on that.
  71.  
  72. Before your prospect arrives, start the demo and leave it at the first 
  73. screen.  Then proceed through the items in the first menu before going to
  74. the second menu, rather than going back and forth between menus.  This
  75. will save time and make for a more effective presentation.

  77. Please note that you move through the demo using the SPACE BAR.  In a 
  78. few instances, where an animation sequence has run, for example, you are 
  79. informed when it's ended by a flashing "..any key" prompt.

  81. Also, please note that in the modules tour section, which uses the main
  82. menu of Excalibur+ Premier, you SELECT THE MODULES WITH THE CURSOR, NOT 
  83. BY MODULE NUMBER.
