  7. WinZip is an archive shell  for Windows with support for ZIP,
  8. LZH,  and  ARC  files,  including  self-extracting  archives.
  9. Feature include: a  powerful and easy to use  point and click
  10. interface to view, run, extract,  add, delete, and virus scan
  11. files in an archive, a tool  bar for commonly used actions, a
  12. sortable list box with the names, sizes, and date/time stamps
  13. of  all  files  in  an  archive,  extensive  help,  automatic
  14. installation, and  a facility to  create a temporary  program
  15. manager group with an icon for each file in an archive.

  17. WinZip was PC-Computing's "WinApp of the Month", March, 1992.

  19. Improvements in version 3.1 include

  21. - Support for Windows 3.1 Drag and Drop interface

  27. WinZip uses the Windows 3.1 common dialog boxes for Open, New
  28. and Extract actions.

  30. WinZip  now saves  options the  same way  as the  Windows 3.1
  31. Program Manager  and File Manager. The  menus were changed to
  32. be more compatible with Windows 3.1, and WinZip uses the same
  33. font in dialog boxes that is used in the Windows 3.1 applets.

  35. Misc  improvements include  support for  foreign date formats
