  6. LCG/Remind is a small utility program designed to remind you
  7. when it is time to back-up the  files on your hard disk, and
  8. to help automate the process.  We wrote this program for our
  9. clients,  and have  found that  it  is an  excellent way  to
  10. ensure regular back-ups  of valuable data.  In  addition, it
  11. can  be used  to  display  information, suggest  action,  or
  12. simply run any  program on a regular schedule.   It lets you
  13. ask multiple  choice, or yes/no  questions from  within your
  14. batch files.

  17. o  LCG/Remind  can   determine  when  your  disk   was  last
  18.    backed-up by examining the date  of "log" files.  If your
  19.    back-up software  creates these  file, then  even if  you
  20.    perform  a  back-up  outside  of  your  regular  routine,
  21.    LCG/Remind will know to reset its day counter.

  23. o  The  number  of  days before  "triggering"  the  reminder
  24.    message may be specified, or you can set it to trigger on
  25.    specific days of the week, or specific days of the month.

  27. o  You can set it to only trigger at a specified time of day.

  29. o  Triggering can  be initiated  or prevented  based on  the
  30.    total size of files that need to be backed-up
  31.  
  32. o  The reminder message can be customized.  Foreign language
  33.    support allows for Yes/No responses in any language.

  35. o  When triggered, the  program can be instructed  to take a
  36.    variety of actions.  It can directly run another program.
  37.    It can  simply display  a reminder  message.  Or,  it can
  38.    even offer a multiple-choice question,
  39.         and act based on the response.
