-
- The Golfing Companion is an integrated program that has uses
- two individual databases to store information relevant to
- golfing. One specific to course prices and the other related
- to the layout of the course ( yardage and par for each hole)
- It also contains an area to calculate an individuals
- handicap. There is also a section with tips on setting a tee
- time.
-
- The datafile for the handicap calculation section is based on
- the name of the person using the program so that the only
- limit on how many handicaps can be calculated is the amount
- of available disk space.
-
-
- A brief decscription of each subprogram:
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- * COURSE OVERVIEWS AND COSTS - Allows you to enter general
- information of a golf course, including the costs of services
- the total yardage, course par, phone numbers, and comments
- about the course. The sample data file accompanying this
- program are actual courses in my area.
-
- * GOLF COURSE DIRECTORY - Allows you to enter specific course
- information, such as phone numbers, address, the yardage and
- par for EACH hole. The IN, OUT, and TOTAL for both yards and
- par is calculated for you from the entered data. There is
- also a field for which tees the listed yards are for should
- it be a while before you play that particular course again.
-
- * PERSONAL HANDICAP CALC. - This subprogram will prompt you
- for your name each time you select it. It stores your
- previous 20 sets of round information, and uses this
- information to calculate your handicap using the method set
- out by the R.C.G.A.
-
- * SETTING A TEE TIME" TIPS - This section puts up a screen
- full of information that has been determined from golf
- courses local to my home.
-
- All the above features are selected from a user friendly main
- menu that allows simple cursor key movements to highlight the
- feature you want to use. A simple press of the enter key gets
- the option up and running.
