  7. The Golfing Companion is an  integrated program that has uses
  8. two  individual databases  to store  information relevant  to
  9. golfing. One specific to course  prices and the other related
  10. to the layout of the course  ( yardage and par for each hole)
  11. It  also  contains  an   area  to  calculate  an  individuals
  12. handicap. There is also a section  with tips on setting a tee
  13. time.

  15. The datafile for the handicap calculation section is based on
  16. the name  of the person  using the program  so that the  only
  17. limit on how  many handicaps can be calculated  is the amount
  18. of available disk space.

  21. A brief decscription of each subprogram:

  23. * COURSE OVERVIEWS AND COSTS - Allows you to enter general
  24. information of a golf course, including the costs of services
  25. the total yardage, course par, phone numbers, and comments
  26. about the course. The sample data file accompanying this
  27. program are actual courses in my area.

  29. * GOLF COURSE DIRECTORY - Allows you to enter specific course
  30. information, such as phone numbers, address, the yardage and
  31. par for EACH hole. The IN, OUT, and TOTAL for both yards and
  32. par is calculated for you from the entered data. There is
  33. also a field for which tees the listed yards are for should
  34. it be a while before you play that particular course again.

  36. * PERSONAL HANDICAP CALC. - This subprogram will prompt you
  37. for your name each time you select it. It stores your
  38. previous 20 sets of round information, and uses this
  39. information to calculate your handicap using the method set
  40. out by the R.C.G.A.

  42. * SETTING A TEE TIME" TIPS - This section puts up a screen
  43. full of information that has been determined from golf
  44. courses local to my home.

  46. All the above features are selected from a user friendly main
  47. menu that allows simple cursor key movements to highlight the
  48. feature you want to use. A simple press of the enter key gets
  49. the option up and running.

  53.    - DOS 3.0 or better, not tested on older versions of DOS,
  54.       but may work ( written on DOS 5.00 )
  55.    - An IBM PC, PC-XT,or PC-AT
  56.    - 256K bytes of available memory
  57.    - One diskette drive ( Hard drive preferred )
  58.    - Color Display ( autosensing program, will detect if
  59.       color is not available and will default to monochrome
