ADays to go will work out the total number of days, the days, months and years that there are between two given dates. The dates could be in the past or the future.
Note: Normally you would leave the 'From' date as it is, which is set to the current date, and you would change the 'To' date to the date of an event, a meeting, someone's birthday or any dated event. The computer will do the calculation and display it on the screen.
ATime to go is similar to Days to go except it calculates the time there is between two specified times.
Note: You can choose to add or subtract time in the calculation, normally you would leave it se to subtract unless you wanted to work out a time in the past.
ADigital clock is a full screen digital clock. It can be run from the Toolbar, the menu option or its keycode 'Ctrl+A'. In the unregistered version it is squashed down to a smaller digital clock.
Shareware note: The full screen clock is only avaliable to registered users.
BConversions is a collection of conversion utilities they deal with the following types of information;
Area, Currency, Energy, Length, Liquid, Mass, Temperate and Volume.
Choose one of the converters from the sub-menu headed
Conversions
and press enter. You will be presented with an edit box and two choice lists.
You enter the value in the edit box, then you tell the computer what sort of value you have entered and then what you would like the value to be converted into.
An example:
Value: 12
From: Ounces (oz.)
To: Pounds (lbs.)
You then press enter, once you are happy with the information you have entered. A dialog then pops up displaying the answer.
Ounces (oz.) to Pounds (lbs.)
From 12 Ounces (oz.)
To 0.75 Pounds (lbs.)
AJourney is a journey calculator, all you need to do is enter the distance of your journey and the average speed that you will travel at, it will then work out the estimated journey time.
Note: You can use either miles or kilometres for the distance unit.
XALottery numbers is a random number picking program press Enter over it in the menu and six numbers will be displayed in a dialog. Press Esc when you have finished with it, or press Enter again to randomly select another six numbers.
Note: You need to make sure that you have entered a maximum lottery number in the general preferences dialog.
:AVAT can add or subtract V.A.T. from a given cost. Enter the value of the item and then select the type of calculation you wish to perform.
Note: You can also temporarily change the V.A.T rate but the value will not be retained. To retain the V.A.T. rate you need to enter it in the configuration settings dialog.
BMemos is a new feature of Utilities, it allows you to keep any important notes, ideas, etc, in one handy loaction. All the memos are displayed on the main screen in the memo window.
The memo window has a scroll bar for easy navigation of the memos, you can also tap on a memo to select it, or use the arrow keys for navigation. If you hold down Fn+ an arrow key, the memos are scrolled by 10 entries.
There are several functions related to the memos, they are: New memo, Edit memo, View memo, Delete memo, Sort memos. There are also several additional fucntions, these are: Open file, Create new file, Merge memos, Export memos, File information.
Note: For more help on each of these functions look at their own help topics.
ANew memo creates a new memo entry for you. You can enter a title, and then the main part of the memo can be entered in the large edit box. The maximum number of characters allowed in the large edit box is 255.
Each new memo is also time and date stamped, so you know when it was written. If you wish you can change the time and date for the new entry, using the time and date editors.

Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday will give you the date for Easter Sunday in any given year. Just enter the year and press enter, it's so simple!
Shareware note: Easter Sunday is only available to registered users.
Find the dayxFind the day will tell what day is on the given date, just enter a date and the day that falls on it will be displayed.

Timer
Timer is a countdown timer. Enter the countdown time in minutes and seconds and press enter, when the countdown is over a beeping sound will be heard alerting you that the time is up, it will beep until you press Esc to stop it.
Watch
Watch is a stopwatch with microsecond timing accuracy. Just press Enter to start timing and Space for a lap time and press Esc to stop timing.

Fuel usage
Fuel usage allows you to calculate the fuel usage for a vehicle buy supplying a distance traveled and the fuel used to travel that distance.
Note: The fuel used can be UK Gallons, US Gallons or Litres. The distance can be in Miles or Kilometres.

Text editor
The text editor allows you to create and edit plain text files, without the hassle of having to export or import them from Word.
You can select either create new file or open file from the Text editor sub menu.

New memo
Edit memo
This function allows you to edit a previously written entry. However, you cannot alter the date and time of an entry, these can only be changed when the entry is created.
AThis function allows you to view a previously written memo. The title, time and date are displayed, as well as the main memo. Although the memo is displayed in an edit box, any changes made will not be saved. But this function may be useful to copy your memo, using Ctrl+C
gABase converter allows you to convert between binary, decimal, hexadecimal and octal numbers.
Enter a number it can be in any of the above bases (types) and then select the type of the number in the from choice and then select which base you want the number converting to, or if you want it converting to all the bases select All bases, which is the default.
AKey codes lets you capture a key code. After pressing enter over this in the menu you are asked to press a key or a key with a modifier.
The code for the key along with a modifier is then displayed in a dialog box.
Shareware note: Key codes is only available to registered users.
ADisk info will display lots of information about a chosen disk. You can choose from either disk C or disk D.
When you have chosen the disk a dialog pops up displaying the disk size, the amount of used space, how much space is free, the type of the disk and the disks unique identifier.
APicture viewer allows you to view EPOC picture files, you may have some of these, they can be exported from Sketch and when you take a screen shot they are saved as EPOC picture files.
Note: You can change the position of the displayed picture by using View preferences.
View memo!
Delete memogThis function allows you to delete the currenlt selected memo. Once it is deleted it cannot be undone.
Sort memosmThis function allows you to sort memos either in an ascending (A to Z) order or a descending (Z to A) order.

This function allows you to open a memo file, these files have the Utilities icon and can be opened in the same way as any other file on the Psion.
Memos | More | Create new file
This function allows you to create a new memo file, it is given the Utilities icon and can be opened from the system screen just as any other file is.
Memos | More | Merge memos
This function allows you to merge two memo files together. You can select another memo file and its entries will be merged with the currently open memo file.
Memos | More | Export memos
This function allows you to export all of the memos from the currently open memo file to a plain text file, this can then be imported into Word or similar for printing out, viewing, etc.
Memos | More | File information
File information, gives you a brief comment on the currently open memo file. It displays the file name, file size and the number of entries.

Backlight information allows you to change the backlight switch off time and also lets you select whether you want the backlight timer to have any effect, i.e. whether the backlight goes off after the backlight switch off timer has timed-out.

Battery gives you quick information on the main and backup batteries, the levels of power in these batteries is displayed in a dialog.

System information
System information gives you lots of information about your machine it is similar to the information in the system screen but perhaps is grouped in a better way.

ALYou can specify the way that many things work in Utilities by using the View, General, Monitary, Currency and Memo tabs in the Preference dialog.
View preferences tab
Initially show toolbar: If this setting is ticked then the toolbar will be show on start up and throughout the time you are using Utilities, unless you change this setting or press Ctrl+T which toggles the toolbar as in the built in applications.
Background picture: This is the picture that is show on screen as a background or 'wallpaper'.
There are several pictures and patterns to choose from.
Digital clock format: This setting selects between 12 hour and 24 hour time formats, which are used by the big digital clock.
Center MBM's on screen: This option if ticked, centers the MBM on the screen. If it is not ticked the the MBM is placed in the top left corner.
General preferences tab
Confirm exit: If you tick this when you exit/close Utilities you are presented with a prompt dialog which ask's you if you want to exit the program. There are two options to choose from, if you tap on 'No' Utilities will not exit and will continue running.
If you tap on 'Yes' then Utilities will exit, just as it would if this option was not ticked.
Maximum lottery number: This allows you to set the maximum number, for the Lottery numbers chooser, e.g. it's 49 in England.
Sound volume: This is the volume at which sound files are played with, using the Play sound function. There are four levels; Loud, Normal, Quiet and Silent.
Monitary preferences tab
Currency symbol: This is the character(s) or symbol of your home currency, for example it is a '
' character for British pounds, or it may be a '$' character for US dollars.
The currency symbol may be up to 4 characters long.
Decimal places: You can adjust the number of decimal places that are used for the currency by changing this value, you can have between 0 and 15 decimal places.
Symbol position: Symbol position is the position of the currency symbol. There are four positions to choose from, depending on where you want the currency symbol to be. The currency symbol is donated by the universal currency character, but the currency symbol that you enter is the one that is displayed in the relevant program functions.
Value added tax rate: This is the rate of V.A.T., as a percentage which is added to some products/services. For example in the U.K. the rate is 17.5%.
All you have to do is to enter the V.A.T. rate in the edit box.
Currency preferences tab
The currency setup tab allows you to setup a total of thirty five currencies, they can all have names up to fourteen characters long and the exchange rates that you enter for each individual currency should be based upon the same 'home' currency.
Memo preferences tab
Auto-compact memos: This option, if ticked, will allow the memos database to be compacted when Utilities is closed.
Use full screen: This option, if ticked, will allow the memo window to use all the avaliable screen space.
Font: This option allows you to select the display font for the memos window. You can coose between Arial, Times New Roman and Courier.

= BirthdaysxBirthdays, when supplied with a persons birthdate, calculates both the day of the week they were born on and their age.
Christmas Day
All you have to do is press enter over this in the menu or tap on it. It will then display a dialog showing how many days that there are to go until the 25th of December in the current year, which is of course Christmas day.
