CWhen JotPad is initially started you will be asked to set a number of preferences as follows. These preferences can be reset at any time from the Configure option in the menu.
Agenda file: JotPad makes significant use of Agenda and it is therefore necessary to tell JotPad which Agenda file you want it to use.
To-do default: If selected this option will set the default for to To-do entries to dated.
Hotkey: it is intended that JotPad will be left running at all times and therefore a choice of hotkeys has been given to be able to call JotPad to the foreground.
Dates: this option sets the default number of days forwards and days backwards when calling Agenda views in JotPad. This is changeable when any view is selected.
Reminder: JotPad has the ability to show, once a day, any items due or overdue for the current day. To enable this option set the reminder and in addition select the time after which this reminder should be shown.
AAs well as being able to show any outstanding items once a day through the automatic reminder it is possible to show these outstanding items at any time through this view which is selected from the main View button. This view will use the same criteria as set for the automatic reminder.
'ASelecting View from the toolbar or via the menu will show an option screen from where "event entries" can be selected to view. Under the "Event entries" tag you can select period you wish to view. The default period will be that set in the Preferences. Select the OK button to view the entries.
8AJotPad has the ability to show automatically any entries in Agenda either due or overdue for the current day. This option is enabled from the preferences. If this option is set then once a day, at the first switch on of the Revo after the specified time, JotPad will automatically show any due or overdue items.

^ATo enable faster use of JotPad a hotkey is set via the preferences menu. This hotkey can either be the Agenda button on the screen or Function + the Agenda button. Pressing this button whilst JotPad is in the background will bring JotPad to the foreground.
JotPad can be sent to the background by use of the Esc key when JotPad is in the foreground.
BSeveral questions get asked a lot and some known issues:
1. When I try to use JotPad I get an error of "file in use".
JotPad makes use of the Agenda file and JotPad cannot access this file if it is already in use. This is usually caused where the option in the Revo's own Today view has been set to "Keep file open". To use JotPad you MUST NOT set this open on.
2. JotPad is slow when reading Agenda items.
JotPad makes extensive use of the Agenda file and JotPad cannot access this file if it is already in use. If Agenda is running then JotPad will close Agenda and subsequently reopen it. This takes some time and therefore it is recommended that for the fastest operation of JotPad Agenda is not left running when you are using JotPad.
