This program is a shareware, that means you can test it for a trial period of 30 days, then if you want to keep it, you must register by sending US $15 to the author of the program (see Register). Registering will give you: the removal of the nag screens and the limitations; free support via email; free upgrades.
Once you have registered, you will be sent a code to enter into MenuS5.
If not, you must delete this program off your machine.
BPages
MenuS5 contains fiftheen pages, which have 26 entries each.
Rename Pages
It is possible to rename those pages as you wish by pressing Ctrl+R.
Run all applications
Depending on the free memory, it is possible to run all the programs or documents setup on the current page, by pressing Ctrl+L.
Remove all on page
This function (Ctrl+X), will delete all the entries on the current page, leaving the page empty.
Remove on all pages
This function (Ctrl+Z), will delete all the entries of all pages, re-initialising MenuS5.
Use the function Ctrl+G (or click on the little marker which is on the right of the screen), to go directly on the page you choose.

EDKnown problems
Links to folders will not work correctly, if the "Open multiple files" option of your machine is set to "Enter". So you need to set this option to "Fn+Enter" (in the system screen, "Menu", "Tools", "Preferences").
If you install MenuS5 on drive D, the creation of databases could be longer.
MenuS5 is not able to run all the kinds of documents present on your machine.
A document is, in general, linked with the application which has created it, but sometimes, it is impossible to find this link, if this happens, an error message "not supported" will be displayed by the system screen.
Some applications are part of the list of applications which are able to create new documents, but this is not true in all cases, and if you add the entry in MenuS5 and try to run it, you will get an error message. Those programs have been setup with this function for other reasons. Don't blame MenuS5 for that.
If you have choosen RMRText for .TXT files, you won't be able to run more than one document at a time. Close the first one which is open in RMRText, then run the second one.
GEntries
Press a key from A to Z (on condition the slot corresponding to this letter is free), or use the keys Ctrl+A to add an entry in the current page.
Then you will have the choice between an entry for a program (P), a document (D), a folder (F), an OPO or EXE file (O) or a note (N).
If new applications have been installed on your drives, then tick the box "Rescan disks for new applications", this will update the database when you press the "Program" (P) button.
A dialog box will ask you the file name, the location of the file and the display name you want to see in MenuS5.
Now just press the key, or corresponding title, you have setup and the program or document will be run.
Modify
To modify an entry in the current page, use the keys Ctrl+M
Delete
To delete an entry in the current page, use the keys Ctrl+S.
Notes atached to this entry will be also deleted.
Function Ctrl+V allows to move an entry to a different slot of the same page or to another page
Add .OPO/.EXE
When you add a program, this one is located, in general, in the system\apps folder and MenuS5 is able to find it easily, but if you want to add a program which is .OPO or .EXE and located in a different folder, you should then use this function.
Attention, a lot of .OPO files are macros and don't run in stand alone mode.
You can use this function also for .APP files which are not located in the System\Apps folder or for .EXE file which are normally located in the System\Programs folder.
For .EXE file, it is also possible to add a parameter (switch) when running it (please read the respective documentation of each exe file on how to use parameters).
New document
This function (Ctrl+C), allows you to create new documents directly from MenuS5, for applications which allow the creation of new files, and if you want, to add directly an entry in MenuS5. This new document can then be loaded.
If new applications have been installed on your drives, then tick the box "Rescan disks", this will update the database.
MenuS5
MenuS5 is available in french, italian, german and english.
All the "backlight" functions or terms used in this help file are valid only for the Series5, 5mx or MC218 machine.
MenuS5 allows you to setup 390 keys per file to run your favourite applications, documents or folders by pressing a simple key (A to Z).
Your programs so organised are easily accessible, no need to search in the Extra bar anymore where the programs are moving each time you add one.
MenuS5 is divided in 15 screens in order to create categories that you can rename as you want.
MenuS5 can have links to HTML, JPG, GIF, ZIP, TIFF, BMP, TXT and MBM files, but only if you have installed the Web Browser or Opera, RMRZip or Navigator, RMRText, Text Converter or Editor and RMRArt, MBMView or MBMUtils (MenuS5 has been set to work correctly with MBMView version 4.0).

Version 2.5
- Complete modification of the hotkeys function. Now you can select the combinaison of keys you want (not only CTRL+FN+key, but also silkscreen buttons) to call back the program (the "other" hotkey function has been removed, because of this modification).

Version 2.1
- Added a new shortcut (hotkey) for calling to foreground MenuS5. It is possible to set the silkbutton "Extras" or CTRL+"Extras" (see "Preferences").
- Added in the choice of the text editor (for the files .TXT), the program "Editor" (if installed) from Symbian. A great editor, in my humble opinion.
- If Opera (the web browser) is installed, HTML documents can be run with it, else the default browser will be used.
- PDF (Portable Document Format) documents are now recognized if the program "Pdf" is installed.
- Corrected a little highlight problem when changing pages if done by double-clicking.
- If changes have been done in the configuration, a control has been add when exiting the program asking for a backup.

COverview
Once you have run an application or document, MenuS5 will be sent to the background and the application or document will run in foreground, you can then press the hotkey to recall MenuS5 to foreground.
You can also press Ctrl+Space for the task cycling, which will cycle through open applications or documents, works as ALT+TAB under Windows (this function can be disabled, see Preferences).
When MenuS5 is recalled, if you run a program which has not been closed, this program will not be run again, but just put in foreground.
When a program opened by MenuS5 is closed, MenuS5 will come to foreground automatically after a little time (this function can be disabled, see Preferences).
When the Psion is switched ON, and MenuS5 is running, it will come to foreground automatically (this function can be disabled, see Preferences).
A warning message will inform you if the batteries are low or need replacing each time MenuS5 comes to the foreground.

Ctrl+P, opens a dialog box, in which you can setup MenuS5.
- Current page at startup
Lets you choose the page to be displayed each time MenuS5 is loaded

This function, if activated, lets you choose if you want MenuS5 to come to the foreground automatically when a program or document run from MenuS5 is closed
- Foreground at startup
If activated, MenuS5 will come to foreground each time the machine is powered on
- Task cycling
By pressing the keys Ctrl+Space this function lets you navigate through opened applications and then put the one you want in foreground, this works as ALT+TAB under Windows (it is an external program which does this, thats why you will see in the Task list screen, a line containing the file Menusw.opo)
- Display day and week number
If ticked, the day and week number will be display in the main screen.
- Display toolbar at startup
If ticked, the toolbar (CTRL+U) will be automaticaly displayed at startup.
- ZIP file choice
This option will be displayed only if the program Navigator and/or RMRZip is installed on your machine and lets you then choose one of those two programs as the default for opening the ZIP files.
- TXT file choice
This option will be displayed only if the program RMRText and/or TextCV and/or Editor is installed on your machine and lets you then choose one of those two programs as the default for opening the .TXT files. If not the internal editor will be used.
- Choose MBM
This option will be displayed only if the program RMRArt and/or MBMView is installed on your machine and lets you then choose one of those two programs as the default for opening the MBM files.

Let you choose a different color for the
display name set in the pages
- Hotkey button
You will be able to use keys for calling back MenuS5 from any screen.
Two options are possible: Different, only one.
Different:
A different hotkey can be chosen for each different page.
Only one:
An unique hotkey, then the current page will be used when program comes to foreground.
- Special button:
This function enable to close all opened applications including MenuS5 if a specific program is launched from MenuS5 (eg: CheckDisk, DiskEditor, Optimize or SmartFormat and also a backup program like SBU, Backup or FlashBack.
Text editor
The function Ctrl+T (or press on the Cut/Copy/Paste function on the left of your machine), allows you to edit an existing text file (.TXT) or create a new one.
There is an eastern egg hidden in this function (see what's new in version 1.5)
File manager
Function Ctrl+J will open a little file manager.
Ascii table
Function Ctrl+Q will display an Ascii table giving the decimal and hexadecimal code of characters. Use keyboard including arrows to navigate.
Screen cleaner
Function Ctrl+b will display a locked screen on which you will be able to clean it without shutting down your machine.
MBM viewer
Function Ctrl+I allows to view MBM pictures.
Alarm
Function Ctrl+Y allows to set the different alarms of the Time application, without running it.
