If you tick the Raw Convertion checkbox the Source File is also converted into an HTML file containing Document Title, Document Headline and Made By as described previously in the Standard Convert section.
Everything else is rewritten in the HTML File as it was in the Source File with the only exception that all ocurences of chr(10) are converted to <P>.
This convertion is good for long raw text documents that you just want to add to your home page without adding too much formatting.
This section describes how the HTML Converter is intended to be used.
1.1 The Idea
The idea behind the HTML Converter is that you should be able to make consistent and nice looking web pages while confronted with as little HTML code as possible.
The aim is to be able to maintain the text of your web pages in simple ascii format without having to see all of the HTML code.
1.2 The Files
Your web files are divided into two categories:
1) The Source Files. These are the ascii text files you will create and maintain (with a minimum of HTML coding).
2) The Destination files. These are the HTML files you will upload to your web server.
These two categories are held in seperate directories making it simpe to distinguish between files that should be uploaded and the Source files.
Each Source file is converted to a destination file in HTML format but you can have more destination files than Source files.
All graphic files, files for download etc are placed together with the destination files.
1.3 Usage
To make a destination HTML file do the following:
1) Make directories for your Source files and your destination files (using the Shift-Ctrl-N on tthe system screen)
2) Start the HTML Converter
3) Setup a HTML Converter Style (see section 2)
4) Open the Convert dialog (Press Enter or click the Conv button)
5) Enter the name of the source file you want to convert in the File Name field
6) Edit the Source file by pressing the Edit button (if the file does not exist it will be created for you0
7) Save the Source File (from the editor, Ctrl-S)
8) Convert the Source File to a HTML file by pressing the Convert button
9) Now, the generated file is automatically launched in the web browser (proviided that you have installed it)

2.1 Document Style
The HTML Converter supports multible setup definitions. If you are managing different home pages with different look and feel you can define a seperate setup for each home page.
The Document Style field is used to distinguish between your setup definitions.
You can either select a setup definition by pressing the Left and Right keys (or Left and Right arrow icons), or you can create a new Document Style from the Style dialog (Shift-Ctrl-S or click the Style button on the toolbar).
You can edit the current Document Style by pressing the Space bar (you can also access the current Document Style by clicking the Curr button on the toolbar or the Edit button on the Style dialog).
2.2 From Dir
This field holds the path to the source files of the current Document Style.
This is where your simple text files are stored.
The From File field is saved as part of the setup for that specific Document Type.
2.3 To Dir
This field holds the path to your destination files.
This is where the converted HTML-files are placed by the program.
The To File field is saved as part of the setup for that specific Document Type.
2.4 Made By
The content of this field will be added to the bottom of each file during convertion followed by the curent date.
This field should include something like:
<I>Last updated by <A HREF="mailto:[YOUR E-MAIL]">[YOUR NAME]</A> on</I>
but you can also include anything else that you want to place at the end of each page.
The Made By field is saved as part of the setup for that specific Document Type.
2.5 Horisontal Ruler
The content of this field is always inserted on the following places on every HTML document:
1) after the Page Heading
2) at the end of the page (just before the contents of the Made By field)
3) everywhere the keyword <HR> is found in the Source Document
The field will usually contain something like:
<CENTER><IMG SRC="hr.gif"></CENTER>
The Horisontal Ruler field is saved as part of the setup for that specific Document Type.
2.6 Init String
The content of this field is inserted at the begining of every HTML document.
Here you can specify the initialization string of the HTML page (background graphic,
The content of this field is inserted at the begining of every HTML document.

To convert a simple text document to an advanced HTML document you must open the Convert File dialog using Shift-Ctrl-C (you can also press Enter or click the Conv toolbar button).
The Convert button on the Convert File dialog will convert the text file to HTML. If the Raw Convertion field is not tagged the convertion will be a Standard Convertion. If the field is tagged the convertion will be a Raw Convertion (the raw convertion is described in the next section).
When the Convert button is pressed the text file
<From Dir>\<File Name>.txt
is converted to the following HTML file:
<To Dir>\<File Name>.htm
if the Default checkbox is checked a file named "default.html" will be generated instead.
You can change the name of the default file from the Preference screen (Ctrl-K).
The convertion follows the following structure:
3.1 Document Title
The first line of the Source File is interpreted as the Document Title.
The Document Title is specified in the heading of the HTML document.
If the Head Graphic field is empty the Docuemnt Title is also added as a Headline (<H1>) with a link to the page "default.html" at the top of the document body.
3.1.2 Document Headline
The second line of the Source File is interpreted as the Docuemnt Headline.
The Document Headline is placed on the top of the HTML body (after the Head Graphic, if there is one).
3.1.3 Other Headlines
You can define headlines in the Source File by adding blank lines.
Blank lines are interpreted in the following way:
1 blank line converts the following line to a bold line (<B>).
2 blank lines converts the following line to a level 3 heading (<H3>)
3 blank lines converts the following line to a level 2 heading (<H2>)
4 blank lines converts the following line to a level 1 heading (<H1>)
This text:
"This is some text.
This is coverted to bold
While this will remain normal text."
will be converted to this:
"This is some text.
This is coverted to bold
While this will remain normal text."
3.1.4 Tables
You can specify simple tables in the Source File by using the keyword <MDOTAB> in the following way:
"<MDOTAB>"
<No Of Rows> <No Of Columns> <Border Width>
<Cell 1>
<Cell 2>
<Cell 3>
...
To make a table containing translations (three rows, to columns) you could do this:
<MDOTAB>
3 2 10
English
Danish
House
Hus
Wine
Vin
The above section will be converted to the following HTML code:
<table width=10>
<tr><td>English</td><td>Danish</td></tr>
<tr><td>House</td><td>Hus</td></tr>
<tr><td>Wine</td><td>Vin</td></tr>
</table>
3.1.5 Lines
Each line in the Source file will be implemented as a paragraph in the converted HTML file (<P>).
As the converter can only read 250 characters of a line, longer paragrahs must be made using the ">" token.
A line beginning with the ">" token is interpreted as the continuation of the previous line (ie there will not be added a <P> keyword to that line).
These two lines
>will be interpreted as one paragraph.
But these two lines
will be interpreted as two paragraphs.
3.1.6 Lists
Lists are specified using indentation.
If you add a space charater at the begining of a line, that line will be converted to a bullet in an unnumbered list (<UL>).
The following lines will be added to that bullet.
All succeeding lines begining with a space character will be added as succeeding bullets to the list.
To make sub lists you just increse the number of space characters in the begining of the lines.
Note 1: You can only change one level at a time (you cannot go from level
3 directly to level 1).
Note 2: To end the list you have to use the </UL> token (must be in upper case) on a seperate line.
If you do not remember this the rest of the text will be inserted under the last bullet point of the list.
RHTML Converter 1.3 for the Psion Series 5 and 5mx (C) Marc de Oliveira & PocketIQ 1999-2000
1) Execute the HTMLConv.sis file on your pc or Psion.
2) Choose C or D drive for the installation (make sure that there is enought disk space).
3) The program will install itself.
Installation from ZIP file:
1) Make sure the \System folder is shown on your Series 5 system screen. If it's not, enable it in the 'Preferences' dialogue.
2) Using PsiWin copy the files PYTHIA.OPO, PIQInfo.OPO, PIQInfo.RSC and PIQInfo.MBM to the folder \system\opl (you might have to create the folder)
3) Go into \System\Apps on C: or D: and make a new folder called "HTMLConv"
4) Using PsiWin, copy the following files to the new \System\Apps\HTMLConv folder:
HTMLConv.app
HTMLConv.aif
HTMLConv.mbm
HTMLConv.hlp
HTMLCrea.opo
4) Copy the files systinfo.opx and sysram1.opx in the folder \system\opx
5) A new icon should appear on your Extras bar
Problems
--------
1. Read only files
Some times files become read only while being installed. None of the files should be read only. If you get any errors like the program is unable to write information to your Psion go through the program files to see if some of them are read only.
In the system-view you can open the file property window by selecting (highlighting) a file and pressing Ctrl-P. In the property window you can see and set/clear the read only checkbox.
2. Copying between C and D
Be very careful when you move or copy applications between the C and D drives. It seems that the Psion is not correctly updated when applicaions are copied from C to D or vice versa.
Always delete the application directory from one drive before reinstalling on the other drive.
3. Low on battery
When starting up this program for the first time a lot of writing is done to the disk. If your machine is low on battery these writes can go wrong and turn the application files bad. This should only be an issue when running the application the first time.
4. Not enough memory
This program needs up to 300 Kb of free memory on the C drive. If you try to run the program with less than 300 Kb of free memory on the C drive it may not behave as expected.
