TAWhen a task is finished you can cross it out. Crossed out entries cannot appear in the Later window so if the entry is in the Later window it will be move to the Now window and shown as crossed out.
Crossing out an entry will activate a repeat if it exists and if any entries are waiting for the crossed out one they will become current.
BIt's possible to specify the percentage complete for an entry by selecting the entry and using the Edit toolbar button.
If you do not wish to use the percentage complete facility you can just leave it as zero.
If you do specify a percentage value a graphical indicator will be displayed at the right end of the entry showing the value.
By default the total required for completion is 100 but it's possible to change it by using the Total for Completion button on the Edit entry dialog.
For example if you're writing a report with 20 chapters you could set the Total for Completion to 20 and increase the percentage complete after each chapter is finished.
7AIt is possible to move entries between windows using the items on the Entry menu option.
When you move an entry from one window to another you may be prompted for additional information.
For example when moving from the Now to Later windows you will be asked for a date for which the entry should wait for.
@AFn-PgUp - page up
Fn-PgDn - page down
Ctrl-Fn-PgUp - move to first record
Ctrl-Fn-PgDn - move to last record
Right - increase date
Left - decrease date
Enter - new entry
Delete - delete entry
Space - move to today
Tab - edit entry
Ctrl-Up - move entry up
Ctrl-Dn - move entry down
Ctrl-q - cycle through views
BWhy another list manager? There are many programs available to manage lists - I've tried most of them but I could never find anything I liked so I wrote my own.
The problem with most of these programs is that despite all their categories and priorities they can't beat a piece of paper with a list of items which can be crossed when they're finished.
I used to find myself using these programs and then copying them onto a list of things to do every morning. This is what RMRList now does.
Actually there's a lot more to the program than that but in essence it displays a list of things you need to do in the order you need to do them.
CRMRList uses three windows, Now, Later and Done.
- The Now window contains current items.
- The Later window contains items which are waiting for a particular date or for another item to be completed.
- The Done window contains completed items.
Create entries using the Enter key or the toolbar item.
If an item cannot be started straight away check the wait for Date or wait for Entry fields. You will be prompted to enter the appropriate information.
Note: Items which can't be started straight away are placed in the Later window.
Once an entry has been completed cross it out using the toolbar button.
If the entry has a repeat a new entry will automatically be created at the correct date when it is crossed out.
Entries which are finished can be moved to the Done window using the option on the Entry menu.
Completed entries can be archived to a text file using the option on the Tools menu.
ATo Open or Create a file in RMRList select the appropriate option from the File menu. When you close the program the file will automatically be saved.
You can save the file at any time by selecting Save from the More option on the File menu.
If you do not wish to keep your changes select Revert to Saved from the File menu. Note: any changes you have made since the last save will be lost.
ATo set a password on a RMRList file use the Password option on the File menu.
Enter and confirm the password and you will then be prompted to enter the correct password when the file is opened.
To clear a password leave the Password and Confirmation fields blank.
Important Note: The password protection facility in RMRList is very basic and should only be used to deter people from opening files. If you files contain sensitive data you should consider using an alternative method of file encryption.
-AIt's possible to print from RMRList either directly to an attached printer or via a PC using Psiwin.
When you select Print from the File menu a window will allow you to choose which entries you wish to print.
It is also possible to change the title which is displayed at the top of the print out.
ETo create a new entry in RMRList either use the toolbar button, select Create new entry from the Entry menu or press the enter key.
When you are creating a new entry the only field which you must complete is the description field, all the others may be left blank or with their default values.
The following fields may also be included:
Repeat, use this field if you want to automatically create a new entry, at the appropriate interval once this entry is crossed out. See Entries: Repeated Entries
Wait for Date, Select this field if you want the entry to only become current on a certain date. You will be prompted to enter the date after closing the dialog. See Entries: Wait for Date
Wait for Entry, Select this field if you want the entry to only become current after another entry has been completed. You will be prompted for the entry to wait for after closing the dialog. See Entries: Wait for Entry
Crossed Out, Select this field to cross out the entry. Crossed out entries may only appear in the Now or Done windows. See Entries: Crossing out
Complete, This field allows you to specify what proportion of the task or entry is complete. The default total for completion is 100 but you can change it using the Total for Completion button. See Entries: Percentage complete
BAMany of the actions in RMRList can be performed on more than one entry at a time.
To do this you need to select the required entries first and then the action to perform.
You can select entries using the menu items on the Edit menu or by using the pointer and clicking on the screen to the left of the required entry.
}AIt's possible to search for entries in RMRList by using the Find option on the Edit menu.
When you search for an entry the program will search the current window first and then the other windows in the order Now, Later, Done. If a matching entry is found the program will move to that window and position on that entry.
You can continue the search using the Find again option.
AEntries in RMRList can wait for two reasons, either for a particular date or for another entry. If an entry is waiting it will be located in the Later window.
To make an entry wait either select the appropriate button on the Entry dialog or highlight the entry and press the Wait toolbar button. If you wish the entry to wait for another entry you will be presented with a list of Now and Later entries from which you can select the required one.
Note: It is not possible for an entry to wait for itself!
^BRMRList contains a facility to allow entries to be repeated. In order to make an entry repeat select the entry and then press the Edit button on the toolbar. You can now specify that the entry should be repeated either, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly or Yearly.
When an entry is set to be repeated the repeat will be activated when the entry is crossed out. At this point a new entry will be created at the appropriate date based on the repeat interval.
Normally you would cross the entry out when it's in the Now window and a new entry would be created in the Later window at the appropriate date.
AIt's possible to archive RMRList entries to a Text file.
To archive entries select the required entries and select Archive from the Tools menu. RMRList will ask for the name of the text file you wish to use.
If the file exists already the entries will be appended to it.
CRMRList contains three windows, Now, Later and Done.
The idea behind RMRList is that the Now window only displays entries which are current and all the other entries are in either the Later or Done windows.
The Now window is the main window and can contain entries for anything you like, for example to-do items or shopping lists. You can set the order in which things should be done by moving items up and down.
When an item has been completed or is no longer required you can cross it out and/or move it to the Done window. The Done window contains items which have been completed but which you want to keep a record of.
Note: instead of moving items to the Done window you can just delete them. However this will mean that they will not be available for later reviewing.
Sometimes items cannot be started yet either because they are waiting for a certain date or for another item. These items should be placed in the Later window.

BTo change the preferences in RMRList select Preferences from the Tools menu.
It's possible to change:
- the display font;
- the Date format;
- the Description width and;
- how crossed out entries are handled.
Changing the description width allows you to set the screen display so that you can see all the information you require. This can be useful when you are changing zoom levels.
If you select the Move crossed out entries to Done option entries will automatically be moved from the Now or Later windows when you cross them out. If you leave it unchecked you can move the entries yourself by selecting Move to Done on the Entry menu.
