  9. Archive folders are just standard, user defined folders, and can be created in the conventional way.
  10. For ease of use, however, these folders can also be created from within Mfolder, from the menu, or using the Ctrl+f hotkey.  
  11. If the folder already exists the user will have the option to quit, but Be Warned if the process is continued then all data within the old folder will be deleted.

  19. The main functions of Mfolder (archive folder creation, archiving and viewing of messages, and creating new messages) can also be accessed from the Toolbar.  This Toolbar can be displayed or hidden, depending on individual preferences, using the Views menu.

  22. Mfolder was written to be fairly straightforward to use, and to comply with most of the Series 5 standard functions.  Users should read the Help section "Archiving Email messages" before starting.
  23. All the functions used within Mfolder can be accessed either from the menu, the toolbar, or using the relevent shortcut key.  These shortcuts are shown below, in the following format :
  24. (S)hortcut means Ctrl+s
  25. There are essentially three main functions that Mfolder performs:
  26. - It (A)rchives email messages
  27. - It allows the user to (V)iew archived messages
  28. - It allows the user to (P)rint archived messages
  29. In addition, from within Mfolder the user can:
  30. - Create new archive (F)older
  31. - Create a (N)ew email message, which is then sent to the Message Suite Outbox or Draft folder.
  32. Email messages from all the Message Suite folders can be archived, and the archiving process can be run either from the menu, the toolbar (Archive) or using the Ctrl+a hotkey.
  33. list of all messages will then be displayed, showing the message title, author, size and which folder it resides in.  The dialog displayed gives instructions, and the user should scroll down, using the down cursor key (PgDn) or the  scroll icon in the title bar, until the desired message/s appears.  
  34. There are two ways of selecting messages for archiving:
  35. * Use the pen to select them directly on the screen.
  36. * Use the right cursor key (End), followed by enter.  Press the cursor key, followed by Enter, for each new message.
  37. Finally, press enter (so for keyboard entries, on the final entry press the right cursor, then press Enter twice).
  38. The user is then prompted to enter a filename and path (the default path is automatically used).  This filename will been given a number to distinguish multiple entries.  For example if "Dave" is entered as a filename, the first message is "Dave1", second message is "Dave2", etc.  If the generic message name exists, then the user is prompted for a new name.  
  39. The best method I have found is to name the message, eg "Dave1_", and then the 1,2,3,etc will be placed after the "_", eg. "Dave1_1", etc.
  40. This then allows the files to have the same generic name (eg Dave) but still be identified idividually.
  41. In the event of an error, a 'Message archiving cancelled' notification will be displayed.  Conversely, when the message is archived successfully, a 'Message archived' notification will be displayed.
  42. New Email messages can also be created from within Mfolder.  This can be done either from the menu, or using the Ctrl+n hotkey.
  43. The user can then input all the relevant details, including address, subject, etc.
  44. Once the message is completed there are three options, send the message to to the Message Suite Outbox (but stay within Mfolder), or quit and lose the new message.
  45. Unfortunately any message archived from Mfolder cannot be moved back to the Message suite directly.  
  46. Originally I had planned to enable Mfolder to delete the original of any archived message, but I have left this facility out to avoid the accidental loss of important messages.
  47. Messages can obviously be replaced be copying and pasting the text from the Mfolder message display window into a new email message, and this can all be done within Mfolder.
  48. It is important to note that Message Suite Email is automatically close when Mfolder is started.  The reason behind this is that Mfolder constructs a list of messages whigh can be archived, and this list is only updated when the Email application is closed.
  49. It is strongly recomended that the Email application is left closed whilst working within Mfolder.
  50. It is therefore possible to try to archive a message which doesn't exist, which causes Mfolder to crash.  If this occurs use Ctrl+Esc to close the application.
  51. Features I am hoping to add to Mfolder over the next few months are:
  52. * Develop a graphical display of archive folders.
  53. * Allow current mesages in the Email application to be replied to.
