  33. 1) INSTALLATION
  34. ===============

  36. If you are upgrading from an earlier version, see the section 2 (below).
  37.  
  38. Turn on your Series 5, press the System icon (bottom left of the
  39. screen), press the Menu key, under 'Tools' select 'Preferences',
  40. make sure that there is a tick next to 'show system folder' and click
  41. on 'OK'.
  42.  
  43. Go into either C:\System\Apps\ or D:\System\Apps\
  44.  
  45. From the menu, under 'File' select 'Make new folder' name it Psi-Jong.
  46.  
  47.  
  48. For a full installation (RECOMENDED) ...
  49.  
  50. Copy all the files except README.TXT into this directory.

  54. If you wish to save space, then copy the following files...

  72. If you wish to add extra tilesets, copy some or all of the other files ending
  73. with .TLS.
  74.  
  75. If you wish to include sounds, copy some or all of the the files that are named
  76. with just 2 characters.

  78. If you wish to include background pictures, copy copy some or all of the files
  79. ending with .BGP

  85. Pressing the 'Extras' button (bottom right of screen) will now reveal
  86. this programs icon, select it to begin.
  87.  
  88. If Psi-Jong does mot work, rename the Psi-Jong directory to a different name, wait a few moments, then rename it Psi-Jong again.

  90. If you have difficulty with installation, re-read and follow carefully
  91. the above instructions, you have probably put the files in the wrong place,
  92. or named the folder incorectly.
  93.  
  94. If you install to C: and want to change to D: or vise versa, copy the Psi-Jong
  95. directory to the new location, delete the directory that you just copied from,
  96. then rename the new Psi-Jong directory to a different name, wait a few moments,
  97. then rename it Psi-Jong again. If you don't do this your Series 5 may get
  98. confused and look to the wrong device.

  102. 2) UPGRADING FROM EARLIER VERSIONS

  105. Install as per the installation instructions above, but do not replace the files
  106. begining with SH-DONE.

  110. 3) TROUBESHOOTING
  111. =================
  112.  
  113. If you have a problem, check that your batteries are not low, and that there is
  114. plenty of memory available to the program. Sometimes the Series 5 fails to play
  115. sounds when batteries are becoming low, but are not quite low enough for the
  116. Series 5 to report them as low. If in doubt, change the batteries.
  117.  
  118. Check that you have followed the installation instructions correctly.
  119.

  126. the problem in as much detail as possible, stateing what machine you are running
  127. the program on, what version you are running, what files have been put where, at
  128. what point in the programs execution the error happened, and what error messages
  129. were given.

  135. 4) HOW TO PLAY

  142. 5) REGISTRATION
  143. ===============
  144. Full instructions on how to register and details of cost are given within the
  145. program, just select 'Register' from the menu, you will be asked a few questions
  146. to determine which method of registration best suites you, followed by full
  147. instructions to the method of registration selected.

  153. When you register you will receive a code that will enable this program to be
  154. used with your Series 5. The code is linked to the Unique ID of your Series 5,
  155. if for any reason a replacment code is required, one will be supplied free of
  156. charge. If you requre further codes for any reason (including changes in your
  157. Series 5's Unique ID due to repair, or to replace a lost code), you will need
  158. to register for the new Unique ID. You will recieve a new code, and again be
  159. entitled to a replacement code if needed.

  161. The above policy is necessary to minimise piracy, and to keep the amount of time
  162. spent dealing with each registration to an acceptable level, which in turn,
  163. enables me to keep the cost of registration low.
  164.  
  165. It took a long time to write this program, I hope you like it and will register
  166. so that I can continue making more programs for your enjoyment.

  169. 6) MORE PROGRAMS

  183. 7) ADDING YOUR OWN BACKGROUND PICTURES
  184. ======================================
  185.  
  186. Enter the Sketch program on your Series 5, select from the menu under 'File',
  187. 'Create new file', give the file a name. Now select from the menu under 'Tools',
  188. 'Resize sketch', set the width to 433 pixels, and the height to 240 pixels.
  189.  
  190. Now draw or merge in an image (under 'File' select 'More' then 'Merge in').
  191.  
  192. The image should have a white background or it will not look good in Psi-Jong.
  193.  
  194. Place the image in the centre of the sketch.
  195.  
  196. Under 'Edit' select 'Select all'.
  197.  
  198. Under 'File' select 'More' then 'Export', you must now name the file.
  199.  
  200. IMPORTANT: The file name must end with .BGP
  201.  
  202. Once you have created the file, copy it to your Psi-Jong directory, if Psi-Jong
  203. is running, you will need to close the program and then restart it before it
  204. will recognise the new background image.
  205.

  207. put it on my web site for others to download, or include it in future releases
  208. of PSI-JONG.

  212. 8) FINAL COMMENT
