  7. Please read this file, it contains important information about the
  8. program. Please also read the Help file included with the program.

  10. Encrypt-it! is a high security file encryption/decryption  utility
  11. for all of your EPOC files.  Use it to protect sensitive  business
  12. and personal files,  E-mail attachments, contact lists or anything
  13. else. It is sophisticated yet easy to use. With all the algorithms
  14. programmed in C++, Encrypt-it! is the fastest and highest security
  15. encryption utility ever featured on a Psion palmtop!
  16.  
  17. The program is intended to run on the Psion Series 5, 5mx, 7, Revo,
  18. netBook, Ericsson MC-218 and other EPOC palmtop computers.

  21. WHAT'S NEW?

  24. v4.0:  * The interface of the program has entirely been redesigned.
  25.          The main dialog is now multi-tabbed (it uses nMPD.OPX),
  26.          with all the options and functions logically arranged.
  27.  
  28.        * A stand-alone wiping tool has been added: use it to "wipe"
  29.          the free space  on either the  internal drive or a compact
  30.          flash disk. This way, sensitive data even from deleted,
  31.          un-encrypted files can't be recovered.
  32.  
  33.        * During decrypting or Quick updating, if you mistype a
  34.          password, you now have one more chance to enter it correctly.
  35.  
  36.        * The program can check if a file with the same name (and
  37.          potentially newer content) already exists when decrypting.
  38.          You can select from three options: always overwrite these
  39.          existing files, never overwrite, or ask you first.
  40.  
  41.        * The Quick update routine uses a different, slightly faster
  42.          method to launch files. Also, all current and future files
  43.          are recognised by this routine (if they have a unique icon
  44.          at the system screen). Text files are now launched using
  45.          the Symbian Text Editor.

  47.        * New options are introduced like setting an initial batch
  48.          folder, or disabling masking of the password. This latter
  49.          is great if you want to copy/paste long passwords directly
  50.          into the password-entry field.

  52.        * Support to run from drive E: has been added.

  54.        * Other minor bug-fixes and optimisations.

  57. v3.0:  * Revo support, "Data" file compacting, automatic closing of

  63. INSTALLATION

  66.     1) Encrypt-it! comes in a "SIS" installation package. This file
  67.        includes all language variants, but only your choice will be
  68.        installed, using the "Add/Remove" control panel. If you don't
  69.        have this control panel  yet, you can download it at

  72.     2) Copy the SIS file into any folder on your EPOC machine, high-
  73.        light it and press enter. The program will be automatically
  74.        installed.

  76.     3) You are now ready to run Encrypt-it! It's icon should appear
  77.        on the Extras bar, so just click on it. Please read the Help
  78.        file before you use the program.

  80.     4) Convert your old encrypted files (versions 1.5 and before) to
  81.        the new version (versions 2.0 and above). First run the file
  82.        "decrypt.opo" in the  \system\apps\encrypt folder to decrypt
  83.        all these files, then encrypt  them  again using  the single
  84.        mode or  batch mode of the new version of the program. 
  85.        If you are certain  that all your files are encrypted  using
  86.        the new version, you can delete the file "decrypt.opo" to
  87.        save disk space.

  110.     file cannot be decrypted, so keep the password you use in a
  111.     safe place.

  114. REGISTRATION

  117.     Encrypt-it! is a SHAREWARE program. Shareware means that you
  118.     have a trial period of 20 days in which you test the program
  119.     to see if you like it and want to use it.  If you do want to
  120.     keep it, you must register with us.
  121.  
  122.     Registration is very simple. Please visit our web site or read
  123.     the Help for instructions on how to register.
  124.  
  125.     Soon after registration you will receive a password by E-mail
  126.     for the name  you supply.  All you have to do then is to type
  127.     exactly that name and  password  in  the registration dialog.
  128.     Registration will remove the Registration reminder dialogs.
  129.     Also, registered users will receive FREE technical support,
  130.     and an E-mail whenever a new version is available for down-
  131.     loading.  Of course,  you  won't  have to re-register for any
  132.     future versions, they will be FREE.
