QCThe New Menu option allows the entry of new users into the database. When selected a dialog requesting the new users name or identification will be presented. The name can be up to 15 characters long, it can use any keyboard character. However it must not start or end with a space. Any spaces in these positions will be removed. If a user has more than one ticket of data then a new user will have to be created for each ticket. For example, this could be of the form UserName [1], UserName [2] and UserName [3] for a user with three (3) tickets worth of selections. If an invalid name is entered then this will be reported and the entry sequence will have to be restarted. This is also the case for duplicate names. Upper case and Lower case are insignificant, that is NAME and name are the same and will be rejected as a duplicate user.

\EPsiLot is intended to provide an efficient and FUN means of maintaining, checking and creating UK Lottery data. The current version provides for the input of User Names and their selections, Updating of lottery data (all the previous draw data is also provided) and, most importantly, the checking of user selections against the lottery data. In addition the software also provides for the generation of printed copies of any of the user data directly from the program. It is possible to print out the lottery data from the associated files. Using this software prevents the headache of misplaced Tickets (the original Ticket is required to make any claim so do not lose it!) and a fun means to check whether or not YOU have won. If the version of the program you are currently using is SHAREWARE it is not supported by the author. However if you care to register then updates may be provided when and if they are produced. If you have any suggestions for improving the program or eliminating any bugs then please e-mail or otherwise contact the author. Unfortunately the program cannot predict a Lottery Draw, if you do win a LOT and were using this program at the time then the author would be very happy to here from you. Note: If you receive this program check that the Lottery Draw data is up to date, it may be that the data requires updating.

BBThis option is used to import text based versions of the internal database files. There are two options under this menu one to import the lottery database and the other to import the Userdraw database. The files to be imported must be called 'lottery.dat' and 'userdraw.dat' respectively - they must be is the same directory as the application. This option is provided to permit data interchange between the PSION version of the program and the Windows 95 version (WInLot). It also permits the use of text editors to alter the data directly rather than through the program.
pCThe Ticket window is used to display the user selections. It is only ever shown in combination with the Draw Display Window or Draw Entry Window. The Ticket window displays the users selection in a form similar to that produced when purchasing a ticket in the real game. In addition to the selections it also shows: The selection date: used to indicate when the card was last changed and the day on which the selection is to be checked. The Lottery Draw number: used to indicate which Lottery Draw is being checked. The ticket window changes to reflect the state of checking against the selected Lottery Draw as shown in the Draw Display Window. If a number matches a Main Pick then the number is shown in a black shaded rectangle. If a number matches a Bonus Ball then the number is shown in a black rectangle. Tapping on this window allows access to all the menu options.
vCThe 'Check data for' menu options allows the program to check either the Current user over a range of Lottery Draws, from the current draw, or All Users over a range of Lottery Draws, from the currant draw. The permitted range is from 1 to 15 Draws from the current position. Anything over about 5, depending upon the number of users entered could take some time to complete. For each user that produces a successful match a dialog box is produced showing the matches. The cases used for the match are 3, 4, 5 or 6 balls and 5 balls + Bonus ball - these are the current rules of the national lottery. Using these menu options it is easy to check previous results for matches to a single or all users. PsiLot does not check the validity of the dates, you can for example check a new entry on previous results to see how successful you would have been, it does not mean you have won!

The files created have a '.txt' extension, if previous versions exist they are renamed with a '.old' extension - the file will be generated in the application directory. This option is provided to permit data interchange between the PSION version of the program and the Windows 95 version (WInLot). It also permits the use of text editors to alter the data directly rather than through the program.
xCWarning: Only Edit this file if competent using an editor. Before editing make a backup copy.
This file is generated by the export userd data option it is used to store the User Selection data. The data is stored in the format shown below. The first line is the name of the user. The next Seven (7) lines give the selection data for the user, in sorted order. If a selection is not used then the data is all '0'. The next line is used to save the time of an edit or update. If there is a lot of data to be entered then it is possible to edit this file, carefully, make sure there are no duplicate names - this is not checked when importing this type of file!! Corruption will prevent the program from running.

FThe Draw Entry Window is used to update the lottery Data file. The window shows all the possible selection values arranged in an array. A lottery selection line is shown with Main Picks. and Bonus Ball. In order to enter a new selection it is simply a matter of tapping on the ball to be selected. When selected the ball is shown inverted. When a ball is selected tapping on one of the Main Picks or Bonus Ball areas will place the selection in that location. Any selected ball can be overwritten by simply selecting a different number, that has not already been selected, and clicking over the ball to be changed. Once all selections are made clicking the button at the bottom of the window will cause the selection to be entered into the database. Before entering the data into the lottery database a confirmation will be requested. If confirmed then you will be prompted for the date. If the date is valid then it will be stored as the date of the draw. Any other actions will cause the current date to be entered as the date of the draw. After date entry has been completed then a request to save the New Draw data to the Lottery Data file will appear. If confirmed then the Lottery file will be updated. If not confirmed then the data will not be entered into file. This could be done if a mistake is made in entering the data. When all data has been entered and accepted then the Draw Display Window will be redisplayed.
Note: Once the data has been committed to the Lottery file it cannot be changed and must be deleted and re-entered.
DThe Play Slip window contains Seven (7) boards titled 'A' to 'G'. The Board is the means used to enter the picks for the selected user. It can only be chosen when the user is selected. It is also shown as the first window when a new user is selected. Each user can have a maximum of 7 different Boards, each with Six (6) number selections. To select a number simply click over the desired open number. If Six (6) numbers are already selected then no further selections can be made. If a number is to be changed then simply clicking on an already selected number will deselect that number. Another selection can then be made. When all numbers have been chosen clicking the Play-Save Button will commit the selection to the user. Only when the Play-Save Button is clicked will the selection be committed, therefore if the Ticket/Draw window is reselected then any new selections will not be seen.
If a mistake is made then clicking on the Board header area will allow the board to be cleared or a lucky dip option selected. When the save option is selected options are given to ignore the changes, commit the changes to the user database and if not already done choose the date for the draw.

CClicking on the Stat button enters the statistics window. This window provides a graphical representation of the number of times a particular Ball has been picked. There are six options for this window: Main Picks, Bonus Ball, Main+Bonus, Sorted Main Picks, Sorted Bonus Ball and Sorted Main+Bonus. These options can be selected by tapping the screen or pressing the enter key. The cursor keys can also be used to move around the statistic graphs. The Main Picks graph shows the frequency of distribution for all the Main Picks. The Bonus Balls graph shows the frequency of distribution for all the Bonus Balls. The Main+Bonus window shows the frequency of distribution for the Main Picks + Bonus Ball. The sorted versions of these windows show the frequncy in decending order.
DThe Print menu item is used to print out either a single Users Selection or all Users Selections currently held in the database. The output is slightly different to the Ticket display, but does show either an unchecked or checked print out.
When invoking this option a dialog box is shown to permit some small configuration of what is to be printed. If no user is currently selected when Print is invoked then only the option to print out All Users data is permitted. If a user is selected then the option to print the Current Users data. The Print Dialog box allows the printing of either clean User data (Unchecked Option), this could be used for keeping a hard copy record of users entries. Or a print out highlighting the matching selections (Checked Option) to the currently selected lottery draw in the Lottery Draw Window. This could be used for distributing results to all users. Clicking the ENTER Button commits the print option. Clicking the CANCEL Button will cancel the whole operation.
If the option to check the user data is selected then a second dialogue is presented to request the number of draws to be used in the check operation.

If not already done copy all the files on the distribution diskette, or in the compressed file, into a single directory called C:\Sytem\Apps\PsiLot. To uninstall simply delete the directory, PsiLot does not spread, it should not place files in any other directory. PsiLot on initial start presents a Ticket Window and a list of current draws. There should be no users, in fact the program should have complained it could not find any user data. If the lottery data is over 10 days old it may also complain about that, however this can be ignored until you are ready to update this data, simply click OK. Once the program is running you can begin entering all the missing lottery data. To create a new user select the menu item USER DATA>NEW and follow the instructions. This should create your first user. With the new user you can now start to enter selections. The Play Slip Window should now be displayed. Tapping above any number will select that number. When all the selections have been made click on the Play-Save Button this will save the selection into the Users database. After clicking on the Play-Save button the Ticket Window will be redisplayed with the selections showing. It will also show whether or not any of the selections match the currently selected Lottery Draw in the Draw Display Window. Try clicking in the Draw Display window to see how the matches change. That's it! You should have completed the entry of your first user. Easy wasn't it!! Above all have FUN!

DThe Draw Display window is used to display all the lottery Draws so far made - all the way back to Draw 1. The Draw Display window only shows 7 Lottery Draws at a time. The selected Lottery Draw is shown by an inverted selection. This window is always shown in conjunction with the Ticket Window. A draw can be selected by using the pen or cursor control keys. Once selected the area will be highlighted by a inverted rectangle and the Ticket Window will be updated automatically, if a user is selected. To move up or down the selection list the Up arrow and Down arrow icons can tapped or the PgDn or PgUp keys can be used. This will move onto the next 7 selections. The Goto button can be used to select any draw within the range.
The Date of the Draw is shown on the left hand side. The date should be as entered when adding new lottery draws. The dates can be used to check the validity of any comparisons.
If a mistake is made entering a new draw then the newest record can be deleted using the delete key. The new data can then be entered again.
The bottom right corner displays a success summary for the current draw and user selection. A "." indicates no winning line. The "X" means no check was made and a space indicates the row does not exist.

The program is written such that it is very easy to use, so in theory you should not need to read this section. However if you need some help on your way then read on......
If not already done copy all the files on the distribution diskette, or in the compressed file, into a single directory called C:\Sytem\Apps\PsiLot. To uninstall simply delete the directory, PsiLot does not spread, it should not place files in any other directory. PsiLot on initial start presents a Ticket Window and a list of current draws. There should be no users, in fact the program should have complained it could not find any user data. If the lottery data is over 10 days old it may also complain about that, however this can be ignored until you are ready to update this data, simply click OK. Once the program is running you can begin entering all the missing lottery data. To create a new user select the menu item USER DATA>NEW and follow the instructions. This should create your first user. With the new user you can now start to enter selections. The Play Slip Window should now be displayed. Tapping above any number will select that number. When all the selections have been made click on the Play-Save Button this will save the selection into the Users database. After clicking on the Play-Save button the Ticket Window will be redisplayed with the selections showing. It will also show whether or not any of the selections match the currently selected Lottery Draw in the Draw Display Window. Try clicking in the Draw Display window to see how the matches change. That's it! You should have completed the entry of your first user. Easy wasn't it!! Above all have FUN!

If you can answer yes to these questions then it should be possible to use it safely. The first step is to change the Lottery data file, see the help section for further advice.

- Edit the exported file to include previous draws for your lottery.
- Import the lottery data into PsiLot. Remember to change the extension of the file to '.dat' and delete any old data.
This should have imported your lottery data into PsiLot. It should now work for your lottery.
In order to get the raw draw data it is worth searching around the web. Many sites provide csv data that can be edited to put it into the required format.
