  39. The WV1160 disk included with this Application Note contains an
  40. updated run-time version of Microsoft Video for Windows. Video 1.1e
  41. for Windows retains all the improvements that were included in version
  42. 1.1d of Video for Windows, but does not include the low-level driver
  43. code that was licensed from Intel Corporation.

  48. The following files are changed in version 1.1e:

  58. PREVIOUS IMPROVEMENTS TO VIDEO FOR WINDOWS
  59. ------------------------------------------

  61.  - Improved palette support. The new version of MSVIDEO.DLL and the
  62.    Cinepak and Indeo codecs prevent Video for Windows from having to
  63.    dither 24-bit videos twice during playback.
  64.  
  65.  - Display Control Interface (DCI) support. DCI allows Video for
  66.    Windows to provide faster and smoother playback on video adapters
  67.    that use the S3, Cirrus Logic, or any one of several other chip
  68.    sets. Video for Windows now supports all DCI-enabled video
  69.    adapters. The performance of stretched and clipped videos is also
  70.    much improved for all video adapters.

  72.  - Better overall performance.

  74.  - Improved simultaneous playback of two .AVI files.

  76.  - Improved playback of loosely interleaved or noninterleaved files
  77.    with NetWare(R) Video.

  79.  - Improved performance of video playback, correcting a problem that
  80.    caused shaky playback.

  82.  - The compression algorithm was changed to meet the official
  83.    Interactive Multimedia Association adaptive-differential-pulse-code-
  84.    modulation (ADPCM) format specification fully.

  86.  - A general protection (GP) fault problem was corrected. This problem
  87.    occurred when you clicked embedded Video 1.1 for Windows media
  88.    objects in OLE 2.0 clients.

  90.  - A slight memory leak that occurred with embedded objects was
  91.    corrected.

  93. INSTALLING VIDEO 1.1E FOR WINDOWS RUN-TIME EDITION

  96. 1. If you received a disk with this Application Note, insert the disk
  97.    in the appropriate floppy disk drive.
  98.  
  99.    If you downloaded this Application Note from an online service,
  100.    skip to step 2. This procedure assumes that you have already
  101.    downloaded and extracted the compressed file.

  103. 2. From the Program Manager File menu, choose Run. In the Command Line
  104.    box, type the following line and then press ENTER
  105.  
  106.       <source>:\setup
  107.  
  108.    where <source> is either the letter of your floppy disk drive or
  109.    the directory containing the file you downloaded from online
  110.    services. For example, if you are installing from a floppy disk
  111.    that you inserted in drive A:

  115.    Or, for example, if you downloaded the WV1160.EXE file from online
  116.    services to C:\DOWNLOAD:

  120. 3. Follow the instructions in the Setup program to finish installing
  121.    Video 1.1e for Windows.
