Dscrnsav Screen Saver
Dscrnsav is a screen saver program which works on CGA, MDA,
HGA, EGA, and VGA display adapters in text as well as graphics
modes. The program is run from the command line by typing
"dscrnsav" with no parameters. Once resident, there is a fixed
delay of five minutes with no keyboard activity before blanking.
The program can be disabled by typing "dscrnsav d" at the
command line, and re-enabled by typing "dscrnsav".
The program works by periodically shifting the starting
address of the display buffer instead of blanking the screen.
This technique has the advantage of being universal to all
display adapters in text as well as graphics modes. In
addition, no memory is required to save the current screen and
the user is able to tell that the screen is active. Dscrnsav
occupies about 800 bytes of ram when resident.
Dscrnsav should be disabled before running programs which
do not use the keyboard or that re-program the timer tick rate
(Flight Simulator). The program and source code are placed in
the public domain.
