Due to some of the activities in the Amazon, including illegal mining, numerous conflicts involving the ownership of the land have taken
place among natives (Indians, rubber extractors, and river dwellers), industries, and people who have settled in the region. In many cases the original inhabitants were transferred to places where their needs and preferences were not respected.
