These are small butterflies, but they are not always yellow. Some are white or light green. When migrating they form groups of thousands, making beautiful white or yellow clouds. This scene is very frequent in the Amazon, and the natives call it panapanã.
Approximate size: 5-inch wingspan.
Favorite food: The caterpillars eat leaves; the adults live on nectar from flowers.
