Blue butterflies are very large insects that flutter through the forest very calmly during the day. Some are so brightly colored that even birds may be frightened. The edges of their wings are black and their underside is brown with eye-shaped designs. The young hatch as caterpillars and may live on plants in groups. Next they spin cocoons, from which they emerge as butterflies, with beautiful, brightly colored wings.
