This is a variety of bird-catching spider that has a reddish-colored thorax. It is nocturnal and often hides in holes in the earth or under stones or tree trunks. These spiders spin webs of silk with which they build bags to hold their eggs. These bags contain up to one hundred eggs or more. Their poison is not dangerous and their sting only causes pain.
