  1. This type of ant is considered 
  2. the most amazing of animals. It 
  3. is very aggressive and its bite causes great local pain and numbness, fever and headaches. Some Indian tribes use the ΓÇ£tocandira testΓÇ¥ to choose the most courageous warriors. It has been said, however, that the ant used in these rites is not the real tocandira ant, but a larger, harmless ant. The tocandira builds its nest underground or 
  4. in trees, housing up to 500 worker ants.
  5. Approximate size:  1/10 of an inch.
  6. Other names:  Tocanguira, tucandira.
