  2. StarOffice Schedule Server 5.2

  5. StarOffice Schedule Server is installed and executed as a stand-alone application. It enables different network users to access one or more common schedules and to coordinate them.

After installation the server will be started automatically in the background. Administration of the server can be carried out after it has been registered in the StarOffice Explorer. To do this go to the Data Source entry in the context menu of the StarOffice Schedule folder. Administration is carried out directly by means of the context menu of the registered server.

  12. Installation requirements

  15. Depending on the operating system the installation will require between 18 and 40 MB of free disk space in your installation directory. A further 2 MB is needed for every user running schedules on this server.

  17. IMPORTANT: If you install the server on a multiuser operating system (such as Unix or Windows NT) you need to be logged in as system administrator.

  23. Start the Setup from the installation directory of the StarOffice Schedule Server.

  25. WARNING: Never install StarOffice Schedule Server into an existing StarOffice directory! This will leave both applications in an inoperable state!

During the installation routine you will be asked to fill in the HTTP port and the administration port for the StarOffice Schedule Server. In most cases, i.e. if there are no other servers running on the computer, the default values should be kept. If there is more than one server running every server has to have its own unique port number. Please leave the Start administration service checkbox marked.

  29. In Windows you will find a new program group StarOffice Schedule Server 5.2 in your Start menu. Here you will find the entries Setup and Service Manager. The service manager enables you to supervise running services and to have them started, halted and interrupted.

  31. IMPORTANT: If you have set up a new StarOffice Schedule Server or deleted one you have to restart the server through the Service Manager.

  33. Basic functions can be also managed by means of the TCP/IP protocol on a web browser that is Java- and JavaScript capable. If you are using Netscape Communicator you will need version 4.0.7 or higher.

  35. Type the complete name of your server (e.g. http://localhost) into the URL field of your web browser. If you have chosen a different port to 80 please add a colon followed by the port number at the end of the server name.
