- This is the beta test release of KTEXT, a morphological parser that
- processes text. KTEXT is intended to be used with PC-KIMMO (though it
- is a stand-alone program). PC-KIMMO is a program for doing computational
- phonology and morphology. It is typically used to build morphological
- parsers for natural language processing systems. PC-KIMMO is described
- in the book "PC-KIMMO: a two-level processor for morphological analysis"
- by Evan L. Antworth, published by the Summer Institute of Linguistics (1990).
- The PC- KIMMO software is available for MS-DOS (IBM PCs and
- compatibles), Macintosh, and UNIX. The book (including software) is
- available for $23.00 (plus postage) from:
-
- International Academic Bookstore
- 7500 W. Camp Wisdom Road
- Dallas TX, 75236
- U.S.A.
-
- phone 214/709-2404

-
- PC-KIMMO (the IBM version) is available from SIMTEL20
- (wsmr-simtel20.army.mil [192.88.110.20]) as
- PD1:<MSDOS.EDUCATION>PCKIMMO.ZIP. The Macintosh version of PC-KIMMO
- is available from sumex-aim.stanford.edu [36.44.0.6] as
- /info-mac/app/pc-kimmo.hqx.
-
- The KTEXT program will be of very little use to you without the PC-KIMMO
- program and book.
-
- This software release should contain the following items:
-
- KTEXT program
- CED program (not available for Macintosh)
- KTEXT User's Guide
- ReadMe file
- English subdirectory
- Tagalog subdirectory
-
- The user's guide is a plain text file, though it does contain a few eight-bit
- accented characters.
-
- There are two samples provided, one for English and one for Tagalog.
- To run KTEXT on the English sample, type:
-
- ktext -w -x english.ctl -i alice.txt -o alice.ana
-
- To run KTEXT on the Tagalog sample, type:
-
- ktext -w -x tag.ctl -i tag.txt -o tag.ana
-
- I would like to hear your reactions to KTEXT, both pro and con.
