- A few notes about Run'R & RunDA.
-
- Run'R is SHAREWARE, $5. Please support the system and pay your dues if you use. I
- spent a lot of time developing Run'R in my spare time. I would need to get fees
- from 100 or so people to about break even on what I consider my time worth. I
- don't expect to get anywhere near that many people who will want to pay for
- Run'R so don't think someone else will do the job. Five bucks is pretty cheap.
- Run'R is not perfect, if it was I would charge $10!
-
- Run'R doesn't like to be in slot #12 or in other words Driver ID 12. That is because DA files
- typically use ID 12 as the default. This is also due to the Font/DA Mover. When a DA is put
- into a file by itself it sets it to ID 12.
-
- The feature "Folder Memory" uses two DATA resources to store the folder & drive numbers. When
- Run'R gets installed into the System all it's owned resources get installed too. For some
- reason (which I haven't discovered yet) sometimes those DATA resources get zeroed out and it
- forgets that information. The way it is suppose to work is that you locate a folder where you
- store all your DA's in and with the "Folder Memory" x-ed on, by doing a command-R or clicking
- on the "Run Resource" title at the top of the dialog it remembers that folder. When you open
- the Run'R in the future it will go straight to that folder. It also restores the old folder &
- drive so the next standard file dialog you see will be where it was instead of in the DA
- folder.
-
- If you want to be able to run the Run'R from obscure places, it comes with a Fkey which will
- crank up the Run'R. You have to use ResEdit or some other Fkey installer to copy the Fkey from
- Run'R to the System. It may be that if you use the Master Juggler or Suitcase to open Run'R
- (what a round trip!) that the Fkey will be accessabe. The Fkey comes in the Run'R with an ID of
- 7.
-
- The Run'R seems to work better under the DA Handler because it closes files opened by the
- Run'R. Normally, DA's & Fkey's opened by the Run'R are left open until an application is opened
- or quit. There may be times using older systems when a DA is opened and then later one is
- selected from the Apple menu and the previous one is opened instead! This is because the two
- have the same ID number and is opened because the menu selection gets translated in to an open
- driver number.

-
- RunDA
-
- It works by using the same file creator as the Font/DA Mover. This means that the last one
- copied to a volume or the last one run is the one that will get launched when a DA or Font file
- is double clicked. Sometimes you can get RunDA to be the one launched by moving it to the
- DeskTop and then doing a "Put Away" from the File menu.
-
- The one problem I know of is that under the MultiFinder it has problems when trying to launch
- the second DA by double-clicking on a file in the Finder. Some kind of MultiFinder weirdness.
-
- I expect both Run'R and RunDA will become obsolete under System 7.0.
