1. To navigate from the Panorama to the Design Studio:
* Select "Design Studio" from the "Go" menu.
(You cannot double-click or click the right mouse button as is stated in the manual on pages 3 and 10.)
2. In order to work with the sample design mentioned on page 4 of the manual:
* Select "Load..." from the "File" menu.
* Double-click the file named "Sample Town".
VIDEO
-----
The following Windows video card drivers may cause erratic behavior under certain conditions. Symptoms include rectangles around your animations or mouse trails as you move the mouse around the screen. If you experience any of the above symptoms or any other sort of unusual screen activity, try using the standard VGA video driver that is provided with Windows.
To change your video mode:
* From the Program Manager, click the "Windows Setup" icon in the "Main" group.
* Select "Change System Settings" from the "Options" menu.
* Click the arrow to the far right of the word "Display".
You will see a list of video drivers.
* Scroll through the list until you see the word "VGA".
* Double-click your mouse on "VGA".
Windows may ask you to insert a diskette that came with your original Windows package.
The following video cards displayed unusual behavior in certain circumstances when running Kid CAD.
ATI Graphics Ultra
ATI MACH 32
Western Digital Paradise Accelerator
TIGA
Cirrus Logic 24Bit 1MB VL
STB PowerGraph VL
MUSIC
-----
Kid CAD plays music in the form of "MIDI". If MIDI music fails to play with your sound card, here are a few suggestions. The vast majority of sound cards interpret MIDI instruments differently.
A good way to check is to note what your machine's "MIDI Mapper" settings are. If MIDI Mapper is set to play in extended mode, try the basic mode instead. If the basic mode for your sound card does not work, try adding the Ad Lib driver from the Control Panel by selecting the Drivers icon. Windows may ask for a diskette that you can find among the
distribution disk(s) provided with Windows 3.1.
For more information about video and sound drivers, please consult your Windows 3.1 documentation.
