PLEASE READ these brief notes carefully before clicking OK.
HARDWARE TYPE: During the installation process of Phoenix Eclipse FAX (OCR), you will be asked to select the type of hardware you will be using (CAS, Type 1 or Type 2). You may find the following information helpful.
CAS modems are the exclusive realm of Intel SatisFAXion (with the sole exception of the 400E which is a Class 1). If you have an Intel SatisFAXion modem, choose CAS. If you have a modem by any other manufacturer, even if it says it has CAS capability, pick one of the other two choices. Do not choose CAS!
To determine if you have a Class 1 or Class 2 modem, please use the following procedure:
**Exit all communications software.
**Enter your Accessories Group in your Windows Program Manager.
**Launch the program called Terminal.
**Go to the Setting Pulldown Menu and select Communications.
**Look in the section labeled Connector and choose the correct COM Port for your modem.
**Click on OK (do not change any of the other settings on this menu).
**On the blank Terminal screen at the blinking cursor, type: AT+FCLASS=? The possible responses and their meanings are:
0,1 -- Modem is Class 1 compatible
0,2 -- Modem is address Class 2 compatible
0,1,2 -- Modem is Class 1 and Class 2 compatible (it is recommended in this instance to choose Class 1)
**Exit Terminal and continue installation.
SWITCHING DISKS: When you receive a message to switch disks during installation, just press Enter or click OK.
