QTOD (OS/2) 2.00
Documentation
Copyright 1990,1993, Thomas G. Harold, All Rights Reserved.
QTOD [/filename] [comment]
/filename - Optional filename to which QTOD will append
its output. This may be used instead of the OS/2 >>
(append) redirection command.
comment - Optional comment which should be included with the
output string. The comment may or may not be delimited
by quotes, and if it begins with a '-' then the comment
will precede the time string.
QTOD allows you to create a commented & formatted date/time
string to be placed into a file either by DOS's redirection
commands or by specifying a file. Handy for creating log files
to track events such as automated file transfers, system backups,
file restores, or system testing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
QTOD is designed to output a commented/formatted time/date
string that can be appended to a log file or printed to the
screen. QTOD's output can be redirected by using DOS's
redirection commands, (e.g. QTOD >> c:\syslog.dat), or by
specifying a log file to append to, (e.g. QTOD /c:\syslog.dat).
QTOD comments are quite simple. If you can fit it on the
command line, then QTOD can print it. Normally QTOD will place
your comment after the time/date string. This can be changed by
placing the '-' character, (minus sign), at the start of the
comment. Comments do not have to be enclosed by quotes, but QTOD
can handle them either way. You may have to try an idea a few
different ways before you'll get what you want.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
History:
1.0 October 1, 1990
Original release version. (DOS)
1.01 October 23, 1990
Changed minor details such as documentation file. (DOS)
1.1 November 8, 1990
Changed QTOD to correctly handle the '\' character in
the comment. (So that it is not interpreted by QTOD).
However, if the '\' appears within quotes, it still
gets tossed by DOS.
1.21 November 24, 1990
Changed QTOD to allow a file to be specified. Sometimes
it just isn't possible to use DOS's redirection commands
to append QTOD's output to a log file. Rewrote
documentation file.
2.00 April 14, 1993
Ported to OS/2.

Usage of QTOD is free to individuals using it for
