TITLE IBM STORYBOARD LIVE! VERSION 2.0
ABSTRACT Storyboard (TM) Live! Version 2.0 is a second generation
multimedia application based on the IBM Storyboard Live! Version 1.0
product that lets the user mix video, audio, animation, still
photography, painting, music and text to produce high-quality,
animated, on-screen presentations. IBM Storyboard Live! Version 2.0
is also part of the Ultimedia (TM) Tools Series from IBM.
Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 is designed to further enhance
and extend the current application capabilities in painting, text,
video, music and voice. Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 consists of
five modules (programs) and is used with the Personal System/2 (R)
(PS/2 (R)) family to capture and create picture (screen display)
presentations to be given using a PS/2 or compatible system with a
color monitor.
The Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 product consists of five
modules:
o Electronic Presentation is the key organizational module. As the
user designs the presentation, Electronic Presentation
automatically writes an electronic "storyline" -- a list of all
the screens and effects entered. The storyline lets the user
track every edit, every audio cue, every video sequence -- and
rearrange them with simple point-and-select commands.
o The Picture Maker module is used to create pictures (screen
displays) of text, figures and graphs. An 800-image clip art
library of pictures and symbols is also provided for "cut and
paste."
o The Picture Taker module is used to capture text and graphics
screen images from DOS, Windows (1) and OS/2 (R) programs for
inclusion in a presentation.
o The Story Editor module is used to turn all individual screens
into one compelling story. The user can link them with special
transition effects timed to match a musical beat or audio voice
over.
o The Story Teller module is used to present the stories. The
Story Teller module and stories can be redistributed on diskettes
for stand-alone presentations.
Planned Availability Date: November 20, 1992.

OVERVIEW DESCRIPTION
USER PRODUCTIVITY
IBM Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 is a powerful multimedia application
that combines video, audio, animation, still photography, painting,
music and text to produce high-quality, animated, on-screen
presentations. Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 incorporates a new user
interface to allow the user to access the program functions through a
visually enhanced menu.
Individual creativity and the tools provided in Storyboard
Live! Version 2.0 allow users to develop presentations with impact
and style.
GROWTH ENABLEMENT
In addition to the more than forty-five IBM and compatible computers,
IBM Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 supports the newly announced IBM
Ultimedia computers.
Many additional printers, audio, video and other input/output
devices are supported, allowing the user to select cost-efficient
enhancement combinations.
IBM Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 can be a very effective
marketing tool. Presentations created using Storyboard Live! can
help messages be seen, heard and understood.
BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
IBM Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 is used to make sales/marketing
presentations, develop product and service demonstrations, produce
imaginative trade show exhibits and create interactive tutorials.
Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 is a creative and cost-effective
alternative to traditional presentations, such as slide shows, flip
charts or overhead transparencies.
INVESTMENT PROTECTION
The flexibility of IBM Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 has been
increased by offering greater integration with other software and
hardware. Now images created in Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 can be
saved as RIFF (DIB) files for use in other graphic software.
Likewise, RIFF (DIB) files can be read into Storyboard Live!
Version 2.0 from existing graphic software.
Also, graphic images from PCX, TIFF and GIF raster files can
be imported directly to the Picture Maker module, greatly expanding
the number of ready-made pictures available to the user.
Storyboard Live! Version 2.0 supports more audio and video
adapters allowing users to select the solution that best fits their
output requirements and budget.
PRODUCT POSITIONING
The four primary target audiences are:
o Managers
o Staff and assistants in sales and marketing
o Creative services personnel
o Independent software vendors and independent hardware vendors.
Experience with previous versions of Storyboard has shown
that, for most purposes, the product is limited only by the ingenuity
and creativity of the user. Storyboard has been used for:
o Sales presentations
o Product presentations
o Product announcements
o Pass-by displays
o Classroom presentations
o Programmed instruction (self-teaching)
o Site directory information
o Task force reports.
CUSTINFO PUBLICATIONS
Publications are shipped with the product and cannot be
ordered separately.
