  1. FIGURE  29.2-9A. A patient with  a  discrete mucosal  recurrence of  a
  2. nasopharyngeal  cancer. The recurrence was superficial and at the roof
  3. of the nasopharynx. It was not accessible through  the opened mouth or
  4. through  the  nose. He  was  treated with  an  I-125  implant via  the
  5. transpalatal approach. This view looks into the  mouth from above  the
  6. patient's  head,  under  general  endotracheal   anesthesia.  A  mouth
  7. retractor holds the mouth open. The tongue is at the top of the figure
  8. retracted by the  tongue blade.  The soft  palate is  exposed for  the
  9. incision.
