  1. FIGURE 29.2-15B. A patient with a T2,  N2 squamous cancer of  the left
  2. side  of the  base  of the  tongue. The  treatment  plan consisted  of
  3. initial external  beam radiation therapy  to the primary site  and the
  4. entire  neck bilaterally.  This was  followed by  a left  radical neck
  5. dissection and an implant, both done with the same anesthesia. The low
  6. neck was treated with a single anterior field  to 5000  cGy/5 weeks. A
  7. midline block protects the spinal cord at the field junction.
