  1. FIGURE 29.2-15A. A patient with a T2,  N2 squamous cancer of  the left
  2. side  of the  base  of the  tongue. The  treatment  plan consisted  of
  3. initial external  beam radiation therapy  to the primary site  and the
  4. entire  neck bilaterally.  This was  followed by  a left  radical neck
  5. dissection and an implant, both done with  the  same  anesthesia.  The
  6. simulation film shows the primary site outlined and the neck node with
  7. wire around  it. A bite  block is  in place. A  total of 4500  cGy was
  8. given to the primary  site and both upper necks, after  which a spinal
  9. cord block  was placed. The  primary and upper  neck was  then treated
  10. with 5400  cGy. Fraction size was 180 cGy/day.  After that, the bed of
  11. the lymph node in the  left neck was boosted on the right  and to 5940
  12. on the left.
