- FIGURE 29.2-15A. A patient with a T2, N2 squamous cancer of the left
- side of the base of the tongue. The treatment plan consisted of
- initial external beam radiation therapy to the primary site and the
- entire neck bilaterally. This was followed by a left radical neck
- dissection and an implant, both done with the same anesthesia. The
- simulation film shows the primary site outlined and the neck node with
- wire around it. A bite block is in place. A total of 4500 cGy was
- given to the primary site and both upper necks, after which a spinal
- cord block was placed. The primary and upper neck was then treated
- with 5400 cGy. Fraction size was 180 cGy/day. After that, the bed of
- the lymph node in the left neck was boosted on the right and to 5940
- on the left.
