- *Micronutrients are widespread in the plant kingdom; some specific
- sources for particular nutrients and nonnutrients are shown. Mineral
- content is dependent on the soil in which the vegetables are grown. In
- the United States, the distributed food network largely obviates
- geography-related nutrient deficiencies, but people in agrarian
- countries may eat foods from only one source and become depleted in
- one or another of the minerals. The interested reader should consult
- Tanaka [ref: 5] and Wattenberg [ref: 6] for more extensive
- discussions.
