  2.      TO DESKTOP ACCESSORIES

  4. Unlike standard .PRG or .TOS files, 
  5. Desktop accessories (recognisable by 
  6. their .ACC extensions) can't be 
  7. executed by double clicking on them. 
  8. Instead GEM must be given instructions
  9. to load them at start up.
  10.     
  11. Accessory files must be present in the
  12. root or main directory so that GEM can
  13. find them. Once installed, an accessory
  14. is run by pulling down the Desk menu 
  15. and clicking on the accessory's name. 
  16. Up to six accessories can be held in 
  17. memory at once - but they take up 
  18. memory all the time the ST is running,
  19. so only install those you really 
  20. need to.

  22. Make sure all accessories you want to
  23. install are in the root directory of a
  24. disk. Hit the reset button once you've
  25. got them in that situation; this 
  26. forces them to automatically load into
  27. the ST's memory.

  29. To use the desk accessories (files 
  30. with a .ACC extension) on this 
  31. disk, copy the ones you
  32. want onto a blank disk. You can have
  33. up to six at once. Insert the disk
  34. containing the accessories in the root
  35. directory into your internal drive and
  36. switch on your ST. The accessories
  37. will load automatically. They will be
  38. available for use until you reset the 
  39. ST. Simply move the pointer to
  40. DESK and click on the name of the
  41. accessory you wish to use.
