- ============================
-
- ~~~~ REVIEWED ~~~~
- ==================
-
-
- Well, the Grand Pricks (as I used to say when I was young) has made it to
- the P.D sector and in this game, you take on the role of a Grand Prix
- manager. I love racing, and the sound of this game made my mouth water so I
- promptly ordered it and decided to review it.
-
- Grand Prix Manager is a good game in ways although it is not as good as I
- expected. For a start, I expected also to be able to race the car but I
- couldn't. It IS a management game though so I couldn't really expect to do
- anymore than er...Manage.
-
- The managing side is pretty detailed and there is enough there to provide
- quite a realistic atmosphere but there is something about it which bores you
- very fast. I have played many management games which have appealed to me
- and I have enjoyed but this one, was just boring. As I said, there are many
- options and you can select the driver you want, the car, engine, mechanics
- and all your other employers along with a host of other things.
-
- You then get to the race which has no sound at all and is really VERY
- boring. You have to watch 72 laps of racing and to make it worse, you only
- see one tiny part of the whole track so you only see the odd car every now
- and then. You get a few messages appearing telling you the positions and of
- any troubles such as a flat tyre but it really gets very tiresome. You DO
- however, just before the race, get to make a bet if you want and you end up
- watching the race to the end, just to see if you win the bet and to see how
- well you have done. The race then finishes and you feel as if you have
- accomplished something...But then you get a screen telling you of the other
- 17 races you have to take part in...AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
-
- The game takes into consideration, money. You can make bets on the winning
- cars, employ employers, some costing more than others, buy new parts, pay to
- get new things developed just for you and so on. This adds a BIT of spice
- to the game but not enough to keep you playing.
-
- Grand Prix Manager could have been much better than it is and the base of a
- good game is there. I only have the P.D version and not the licenceware but
- the latter only boasts a save game option and being able to edit names.
-
- This game has no long term appeal. I only played it for about five minutes.
- I then decided that if I was going to do an accurate review I should play a
- bit longer and see if there are any suprises or extras. After another hour
- and a couple of thousand laps later...I found that I was right...The game
- IS rubbish. Well, rubbish may not be the word. Let's say that if the
- writer was to have another go at the game, it might turn into something
- decent. The idea's there but er...Nothing else really!
-
