- Changes in SilkMouse 3.0
- ========================
-
- 1. Mouse acceleration is both smoother and faster than before.
-
- 2. The small region of resolution-dependence at very low speeds has been
- removed entirely, so the sensitivity adjustment for shifting between
- first and second gears has undergone appropriate changes in its
- nomenclature (no longer called "res correct sense") and calibration.
- First and second gears are no longer the same in low resolution.
-
- 3. The top gear ratio (relative to middle gear ratio, not base speed) is
- now adjustable in half steps; previously it was locked at x2, and now
- [x2.5] is the default. The adjustment range is from x1 to x4, so
- those demented individuals who complained that SilkMouse was too slow
- can crank it way up if they want.
-
- 4. TT users take note: in the interest of smoothness, the "partial"
- acceleration setting from version 2.6 has been replaced by a simpler,
- switchable res-correction limiter that does not affect the top gear
- ratio. (In version 2.6, the top gear ratio was automatically
- increased when TT graphics modes were used in the "partial" setting.)
-
- 5. A systemwide hold-screen option has been added. It lets you use the
- mouse to momentarily freeze any application as it exits, in order to
- read its output before the desktop wipes it out. This is useful when
- running programs that were meant to be launched from a command shell.
-
- 6. Trivial change: you can now adjust the amount of time the screen saver
- spends in its dimmed state.
-
- 7. Allowance was made for an anomaly in MiNT, under the assumption that
- it will carry over into MultiTos. (Thanks to Dan Wilga at Gribnif for
- the warning.)
-
- 8. The configurator accessory and CPX have been rewritten and have a
- cleaner appearance. The accessory now mimics the CPX, both in its
- general appearance and in its use of sliders for fine adjustments. To
- keep file sizes down, the built-in help texts were removed. Consult
- SILKMOUS.DOC for that information.
