- THE ICTARI PROGRAMMERS USER GROUP
- ====================================
-
- Bob Kell has some new ST chums
-
-
-
- I was turfing out some old copies of Micro Mart the other day and had
- a last wee flick through some of the pages.I came across an advert
- for Atari programmers who fancied either giving or receiving a little
- help from some other like-minded people. This ad had been placed by the
- ICTARI PROGRAMMERS USER GROUP and although I can`t even program the video
- I dropped them a line to see what they were all about and to find out if
- I could pass on some information about them to you lot to see if you`d
- maybe fancy joining them.
-
- The group is basically for anyone who programs in any language on the
- Atari range of computers. It is a non-profit making group which was
- started up in 1995 by one Nick Bates. The group were originally based
- in Devon but are now centred in Hampshire. From the literature that I
- received I think that Mr Peter Hibbs is now the man to talk to
- regarding possible contact. The original idea was for programmers of
- all levels of ability to be able to communicate with each other on
- such topics as software ideas,programming tips,problem solving,and
- general discussion on the programmers view of the ST.The members
- receive a monthly magazine on disk with all sorts of aspects of
- programming covered, including help and advice. This mag is totally
- free, requiring only a disk and return post.
-
- As far as I can see groups such as this are the future of the ST and
- anyone out there who is maybe sitting on their lonesome getting
- totally pissed off because they are having problems with that little
- bit of code that is going to make their game the next Doom, pick up
- your pen and drop these guys a line, several heads are better than
- one,and not only will you receive help from those more experienced
- than you,you will be able to give help to those less experienced than
- you which is equally as important.
-
- I`ll now give you the address of the group so that you can flood the
- nice Mr Hibbs with lots of lovely letters.Even if you can`t program or
- maybe don`t want to even have a go,what about splashing out 19p just
- to drop him and his chums a line or two just to let him know that you
- appreciate their efforts on behalf of all of us.Without guys like
- these remember, you wouldn`thave any flashy doo-daas to run on your
- Atari in the first place. You know it makes sense.
