The software and RFCs on this CD was gathered on December 29, 1991.
Most everything is in compressed format to allow us to place more
useful items on the CD-ROM. If your system doesn't have compress(1)
you will need to build it from the sources located in usenet/compress.tar.
All the software on this distribution is in source form so you will
need to build the packages yourselves.

The scripts in bin are quick and dirty tools that can help you wander
through the data in comp.archives, and the USENET indexes as well as
for reviewing the RFCs. You will need to modify them to suit your local
environments.
The directory bin/sun4 has the sparc executable for article(1).
A man page for article is also in that directory. Article is
useful in scanning the USENET archives. For starters try
article /cdrom/usenet/comp.sources.misc/volume26/*
