Extinction. It is now generally accepted that dinosaurs became extinct as the result of a comet, or meteor hitting the Earth 66 million years ago. The map shows the impact point and the direction. The collision changed the climate of the Earth, in both the short and long term, because the Sun did not shine for six months, due to dust in the atmosphere. Those animals not killed by the impact probably starved to death.
