HELP ON USING BABY TRACKER
Usage: BABY.EXE [filename]
Baby Tracker is simple to use. There are two pieces of information that
Baby Tracker needs in order to give you the information you want.
First, supply the starting date of the pregnancy. Remember, the medical
community refers to the starting date of the pregnancy as the first day of
the woman's last menstration cycle. The starting date of the pregnancy is
NOT the day of conception.
Second, supply the 'reference date'. The reference date is the day that
Baby Tracker will use to compute the pregnancy information in the
information box on the right half of the screen.
The information box will supply useful information such as how many days,
weeks and months have been completed. The due date of the baby, estimated
height and weight of the fetus, etc. The mood was added for a humorous
distraction from the nerve wracking and sometimes uncomfortable nature of
being pregnant.
You can save pregnancy information, load other pregnancies, start new
pregnancies, etc.
The shareware version of Baby Tracker does not allow printing. In the
registered version you can print tables of information on the pregnancy.
The author liked to print out a month of information and hang it up at work
so he could always see the progress the pregnancy was making.
Technical details:
Baby Tracker was written using Borland C++ 4.0, but later recompiled in
Visual C++. However, no C++ class "libraries, application frameworks, CASE
tools, etc were used. Baby Tracker is pure C code for a small .EXE and fast
execution speed. The toolbar, calendar controls, etc are custom so that
no .DLL's or other code needs distributed. All text is placed in string
resource tables. The bottom line is that BABY.EXE is a standalone
executable, which makes it easy to distribute and eliminates the possibility
that it will be accidently distributed with a crucial .DLL or .VBX left out.
Send some extra money when registering and I'll send you the source code.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Thank you for using Baby Tracker for Windows, if you use and enjoy this
program please register.
As a registered user you will get:
1. Your own personally registered copy of Baby Tracker.
2. A version that does printing, has more names, fetal diagrams, etc.
And best of all the registered version doesn't keep reminding you
that you need to register.
3. Something to make the pregnancy more enjoyable.
4. A good feeling knowing that you are helping to put the programmer's
children through college someday so that they can write software also.
And nevertheless, you would be supporting the official concept of shareware.
The shareware concept is a 'try before you buy' system of purchasing
quality software. Instead of paying a relatively large sum of money to buy
a commercial product, and then find out its not what you need, shareware is
different. Shareware allows you a trial period, usually 30-90 days, to
see if the software meets your needs, or brings you enjoyment. If you
continue to use the software beyond the author's trial period, you are
expected to pay the registration fee. Some shareware products offer
additional features and/or support when you register. By registering you
encourage the author to produce more quality software at very affordable
prices.
By all means give your co-workers, neighbors, brothers/sisters, friends,
etc, a copy of the shareware version of Baby Tracker. Only BABY.EXE needs
to be distributed. All text, licensing information, help, etc is embedded
within the program.
Here's how to register...
Registration is $10. If you are a Windows programmer and would like to
get a copy of the source code for Baby Tracker, then send an additional
$25. Baby Tracker was written entirely in C, using the Windows SDK. No
application libraries or CASE tools were used. All parts of the program,
i.e., the toolbar, message boxes, calendars, etc are all done in pure C
(use any compiler that the SDK supports). This keeps the .EXE small
and fast.
