  4. The enclosed diskette contains the shareware (try before you buy) versions 
  5. of these products.  For your convenience, each product is provided in a 
  6. standard ZIP file as well as a self-extracting executable file.
  7.  
  8. Please feel free to share the trial versions of Plug-In for Program Manager
  9. and Roger's Rapid Restart with your friends and business associates.  
  10. We ask that you only share the ZIP versions (.ZIP) of these products.  
  11. Please do NOT distribute the self-extracting executable (.EXE) files.

  14. What is Plug-In for Program Manager?
  15. ------------------------------------

  17. Plug-In is a utility that dramatically improves the Windows Program Manager.
  18.  
  19. Plug-In has received press coverage in numerous journals, including 
  20. PC Magazine, PC/Computing, BYTE and Windows Magazine.  It is a recipient 
  21. of the 1993 Windows Magazine WinAward for the top 100 Windows products.  
  22. It also won Jerry Pournelle's (BYTE Magazine) 1993 User's Choice Award 
  23. for Shareware of the Year.

  25. Instead of replacing Program Manager, Plug-In simply makes it better.  
  26. When you run Plug-In, additional items are added to Program Manager's 
  27. menus, and existing commands are enhanced.

  29. Major features include:

  31.    - Complete group management allows you to copy, activate,
  32.      deactivate, and reposition your groups.  
  33.  
  34.    - The run command is enhanced with a history list of the last 25 
  35.      commands entered.

  37.    - You can now assign individual icons to each group!

  39.    - Custom cursors are provided for the standard pointer and hourglass.  
  40.      This adds fun to your Windows environment and is great for use 
  41.      on laptops!

  43.    - Detailed system information provides a rundown on your configuration 
  44.      and the memory usage by each application.

  46.    - System resource displays and alarms are provided.  You will always 
  47.      know how much memory and system resources are available.

  60. Installing Plug-In for Program Manager

  63. For your convenience, the Plug-In product is contained in a standard 
  64. ZIP file as well as a self-extracting executable file (SFX).
  65.  
  66. If you wish to use the ZIP file, utilize your favorite ZIP utility to 
  67. unarchive Plug-In's files to a directory on your hard disk.  We recommend 
  68. a directory called PLUGIN.
  69.  
  70. As an alternative, you can copy the Plug-In files to your system by 
  71. running the SFX program.  Simply run PLUGSFX.EXE followed by the desired 
  72. destination directory.  For example, in Program Manager, select RUN from 
  73. the FILE menu, and enter the following in the command line:

  75.       A:\PLUGSFX.EXE  C:\PLUGIN
  76.  
  77. This will copy all of Plug-In's files to the C:\PLUGIN directory on your 
  78. hard disk.  Note that the directory will be created if it doesn't exist.

  80. After you have extracted all of Plug-In's files to a directory on your 
  81. hard disk, simply run PLUGIN.EXE to complete product installation.  
  82. For example, in Program Manager, select RUN from the FILE menu, and enter 
  83. the following in the command line:

  89. What is Roger's Rapid Restart?
  90. ------------------------------

  92. Roger's Rapid Restart gives you total control over exiting and restarting 
  93. Windows. 
  94.  
  95. In the February issue of Windows Sources, Barry Simon writes, 
  96. "Typical of programs that are exceedingly useful but too "small" to make 
  97. it at Egghead is Roger's Rapid Restart."  Windows User (June 1993) gave
  98. Roger's Rapid Restart its Best Buy designation along with a 4-star rating.

  100. It allows you to:

  102.    - Exit Windows
  103.  
  104.    - Restart Windows without first going back to the DOS prompt
  105.  
  106.    - Exit Windows, run a DOS application, and restart Windows without 
  107.      further user intervention.  This is great for DOS games!  And, 
  108.      developers can switch between the debug and retail kernels with  
  109.      a single keystroke!
  110.  
  111.    - Exit Windows and reboot your system.  This will exit Windows and 
  112.      perform a soft system reset.

  114. A special Hotkey allows you to exit Windows instantly!  You can utilize 
  115. our Rapid Restart (tm) feature to exit or restart Windows without the 
  116. delays involved when each application is asked if it is OK to exit.  
  117. This is particularly handy if you are running applications that always 
  118. ask before terminating (such as a DOS application).  You can also run 
  119. Roger's Rapid Restart with passed-in parameters and have full access to 
  120. its command set.

  125. Installing Roger's Rapid Restart (RRR)
  126. --------------------------------------

  128. For your convenience, the RRR product is contained in a standard ZIP file 
  129. as well as a self-extracting executable file (SFX).

  131. If you wish to use the ZIP file, utilize your favorite ZIP utility to 
  132. unarchive Plug-In's files to a directory on your hard disk.  We recommend 
  133. a directory called RRR.
