  26. GoldWave is sound editor, player, recorder, and converter
  27. for MS-Windows.

  74. 2.0 Installation, Uninstall

  77. 2.1) Installation
  78.  
  79. Use Program Manager to create a new icon for GoldWave.
  80.  
  81. Copy the following files to your WINDOWS directory:
  82.     express.eqx
  83.     gwpreset.ini
  84.  
  85. Search your system for the file BWCC.DLL.  If you find any
  86. copies, check the date.  If the BWCC.DLL file included with
  87. GoldWave is newer, replace all old copies with the one
  88. included with GoldWave.  You should restart Windows to remove
  89. any old copies from memory.

  92. 2.2) Uninstall
  93.  
  94. Delete the following files from your WINDOWS directory:
  95.     express.eqx
  96.     gwpreset.ini
  97.     goldwave.ini
  98. Other files are listed in section 4.0.

  100. Generally, BWCC.DLL should not be deleted from the 
  101. WINDOWSS\SYSTEM directory as it may be required by other
  102. applications.

  106. 3.0 Important Additional Notes
  107. --------------------------------------------------------------
  108.  
  109. 3.1) GoldWave requires a minimum of a 386 processor.  A 486
  110. processor is recommended.
  111.  
  112. 3.2) VOC files are saved using version 1.20 format.
  113. GoldWave will only use the older VOC format if the sound
  114. is mono 8-bit with a sampling rate less than 23000Hz.
  115. If a VOC file saved by GoldWave becomes incompatible with
  116. your Sound Blaster driver:
  117.     1)    Open the file in GoldWave
  118.     2)    Make sure the sampling rate is less than 23000Hz.
  119.     If it is not, use Effects | Resample to convert
  120.     to a lower sampling rate.
  121.     3)    Use File | Save as to save the file as mono unsigned
  122.     8-bit VOC.
  123. If possible, you should get a copy of the latest Sound
  124. Blaster drivers (ftp.creaf.com).
  125.  
  126. 3.3) GoldWave now makes use of more of the RIFF WAVE
  127. standard file format.  New chunks such as the 'cue ' and
  128. LIST 'adtl' are included to store cue points.  These chunks
  129. are stored at the end of the WAVE file to minimize problems
  130. with some programs that do not correctly read/ignore WAVE
  131. chunks.  Cues are stored only in Wave files.  If you
  132. encounter problems with other programs, report the problem
  133. to the developers of the other program.

  135. 3.4) In RAM storage mode, the largest file you can open
  136. depends upon how much RAM you have for Windows.  This does
  137. not include virtual memory.  Use Hard disk mode when
  138. editing large files (Options | File).
  139.  
  140. 3.5) Colour configuration has been removed temporarily.
  141. It will be reintroduced in a future version.
  142.  
  143. 3.6) In order to get the scope working correctly, you might
  144. have to change the positioning method in the Device Setup
  145. dialog box.
  146.  
  147. 3.7) GoldWave includes a recent version of BWCC.DLL
  148. from Borland.  GoldWave checks for this version of BWCC.DLL
  149. (or a newer one).  If you get an error message, you should
  150. delete any older copies of BWCC.DLL or replace them with the
  151. one included with GoldWave.  You may have to restart Windows
  152. to remove the older BWCC.DLL from memory.  Only one copy of
  153. BWCC.DLL is needed and should be kept in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  154. directory.

  156. 3.8) If GoldWave crashes during playback or recording,
  157. contact your sound card manufacturer to obtain an updated
  158. driver.  Some drivers are available from the World Wide Web.
