  14. *       Windows 3.1
  15. *       Super VGA mode (i.e. 640 x 480 x 256)
  16. *       8-bit sound card and stereo speakers/headphones
  17. *       MCI capabilities. Minimum required MCI control
  18.     panel drivers:
  19.         [MCI] Autodesk Animation Player:>Version1.1
  20.         [MCI] MIDI Sequencer
  21.  
  22. *       MIDI card supporting General MIDI
  23.  
  24. NOTE: The demo is designed to run with a rich-voiced midi card such 
  25. as the Turtle Beach Multisound or the Roland Sound Canvas.  
  26. Tracks may be dropped on low end cards depending on the midi-
  27. map configuration (see section 4 below).

  31. TO INSTALL & RUN THIS DEMO:
  32.  
  33. 1)      Create a directory on your hard disk for the demo files. Copy all 
  34. the files from the CD to this demo directory. There are approximately 
  35. 30MB of files that must be transferred.
  36.  
  37. 2)      Start up windows 3.1.(Make sure you are in super VGA mode)
  38.     
  39. 3)      From the program manager select File, Run.
  40.  
  41. 4)      Type the full pathname for
  42.  
  43.         a)      BIDDERS.EXE
  44.         b)      ZEKE.EXE
  45.         c)      NURIA.EXE
  46.         d)      GONE.EXE
  47.  
  48.     for example "c:\PMIDEMO\ZEKE.EXE"
  49.     
  50. 5)      Click on the left-most triangular "PLAY" icon to start the demo.
  51.     
  52.     NOTE:   At the end of the presentation you will have to click on 
  53.     the right-most "EXIT" icon to return to Windows.
  54.  
  55. 6)      Sit back and enjoy the presentation.

  62. SOME PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS:
  63.  
  64. This section describes possible solutions to the following problems:
  65.     
  66.     1)      Animations do not run
  67.     2)      No Audio is heard and the presentation continues
  68.     3)      No Audio is heard and the presentation stops
  69.     4)      No MIDI is heard on the Millennium Auction title screen
  70.     5)      Any other messages
  71.  
  72. 1)      Animations do not run and you get the message:
  73.         "Animations will not run please check the readme file"
  74.  
  75. If this happens you probably do not have the required MCI animation drivers 
  76. loaded. To load the drivers follow these steps:
  77.         
  78.         a)      From the program manager select File Run and type:
  79.                 c:\windows\system\sysedit.exe and hit enter 
  80.             (This of course assumes that Windows is in the 
  81.             c:\windows directory).
  82.  
  83.         b)      Select the system.ini file.
  84.  
  85.         c)      Find the '[MCI]' section (You can use 
  86.             Search Find '[MCI]' Enter)
  87.     
  88.         d)      At the end of the section add the following line
  89.                 Animation1=mciaap.drv
  90.         
  91.         e)      Select the win.ini file
  92.  
  93.         f)      Find the '[MCI]' section (You can use Search Find 
  94.             '[MCI]' Enter)
  95.         
  96.         g)      At the end of the section add the following line
  97.                 flc=Animation1
  98.  
  99.         h)      Now exit sysedit, and save both the system.ini and win.ini files.
  100.  
  101.         i)      Next copy the files mciaap.drv and aaplay.DLL from 
  102.             the CDROM to your c:\windows\system directory 
  103.             (assuming that windows is in the c:\windows directory).
  104.  
  105. 2)      No Audio is heard and the presentations continues
  106.         
  107.     Check the volume control using the mixer software supplied with your audio card.
  108.     NOTE: The snippets in this demo contain MIDI audio (background music) and
  109.     Wave audio (speech)
  110.  
  111. 3)      No Audio is heard and the presentations stops
  112.  
  113.     a)      Check to make sure that all the files from the demo CD are in your demo 
  114.     directory.
  115.     
  116. 4)      No MIDI is heard at the Millennium Auction title animation
  117.     
  118.     a)   Check that you have a high end MIDI card.
  119.  
  120.     b)   Make sure that all 16 midi channels are available to the 
  121.     midi driver (if possible).
  122.  
  123.     To do this:
  124.         Select the MIDI Mapper from the Control Panel.
  125.         Select Setups.
  126.         Click on Edit.
  127.         Select the available MIDI ports (make sure that the first 
  128.         16 are active).
  129.         Restart windows and see if there is any improvement.
  130.  
  131. 5)      Any other messages or problems
  132.
