  7. 2.00* 3/30/93  Improved VESA video memory detection. Snooper now
  8.                retrieves the memory amount directly from the VESA BIOS
  9.                if the VESA version is at least 1.01. Also fixed a bug
  10.                that caused the VESA version to be reported incorrectly.
  11. 1.99     3/93  Added detection of a Logitech mouse driver's version.
  12.                Also, in the IRQ list on the Advanced Diagnostics screen,
  13.                if you have a new enough mouse driver, Snooper will
  14.                report if it's a TSR loaded in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
  15.                ("MOUSE.COM"), or a device driver loaded in your
  16.                CONFIG.SYS file ("MOUSE.SYS").
  17. 1.98     3/93  Added more rigorous testing to determine if a parallel
  18.                port really exists before testing its IRQ and status.
  19.                Rearranged parallel port status reports.
  20. 1.97     3/93  Expanded configuration file with blank space so I can add
  21.                more options in the future while maintaining backward
  22.                compatibility with existing .CFG files.

  24.                I/O cards with parallel ports do not generate the IRQ
  25.                properly. This report uses parentheses like the COM port
  26.                IRQ (see below).
  27. 1.95     3/93  Added indication of a COM port's IRQ being enabled. If
  28.                the IRQ number does not appear in parentheses on the
  29.                Advanced Diagnostics screen, that COM port's IRQ was
  30.                already enabled before Snooper was run. If the IRQ is
  31.                written in parentheses, the IRQ is not active on that
  32.                port. Also, COM port info is centered now.
  33. 1.94     3/93  Added detection of the port address of Western Digital
  34.                and compatible network cards, displayed on the Advanced
  35.                Diagnostics screen.
  36. 1.93     3/93  Added an internal text editor for CONFIG.SYS,
  37.                AUTOEXEC.BAT, and SNOOPER.LOG files. Added configuration
  38.                option for toggling between using the internal editor or
  39.                an external one.
  40. 1.92     3/93  If you were using only a tiny percentage of a disk,
  41.                Snooper may have shown an empty bar graph, perhaps
  42.                misleading you into thinking the disk was empty. Now if
  43.                any amount of disk space is being used, Snooper shows at
  44.                least one block in the graph.
  45. 1.91     3/93  Added logging of CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. From
  46.                Snooper's main or Advanced Diagnostics screens with
  47.                <Alt-P> and from the command line, with the /P switch.
  48.                This feature will copy the contents of both files to the
  49.                log file. The switch can be used with or without the
  50.                logging switch, /L. It will use the log filename
  51.                specified with /L.
  52. 1.90     2/93  Changed format of configuration file. Config files made
  53.                with earlier versions will be incompatible with future
  54.                versions of Snooper, so just delete them and make new
  55.                ones.
  56. 1.89     2/93  Instead of prohibiting the user from invoking Snooper's
  57.                Advanced Diagnostics screen under multitaskers and
  58.                networks, now Snooper just warns about the dangers
  59.                involved and asks if the user wishes to continue.
  60. 1.88     2/93  Fixed editor loading routine to correctly load a batch
  61.                file called EDIT.BAT by loading a secondary command
  62.                processor (e.g., COMMAND.COM, NDOS.COM). Snooper now
  63.                ensures the relevant files exist before invoking the
  64.                editor. Added a wait for keypress after editing before
  65.                restoring Snooper's screen.
  66. 1.87     2/93  Reassigned editing keys: <Alt-C> loads only CONFIG.SYS,
  67.                and <Alt-A> loads only AUTOEXEC.BAT. Using <Alt-A> for
  68.                this feature forced me to change the Advanced Diagnostics
  69.                key to <Alt-D> for Diagnostics.
  70. 1.86     2/93  Improved Setup screen's readability by aligning default
  71.                options and changing the choices from Yes/No to Yes/Auto.
  72. 1.85     2/93  Reversed action of PgUp/PgDn, Up/Down, Left/Right in help
  73.                screens and main screen to make those keystrokes more in
  74.                line with convention.  Pressing PgUp will now move you,
  75.                for example, from page three to page two of the help
  76.                screens, or from drive B: to drive C:.
  77. 1.84     2/93  Added logic to guess where a mouse is located even if the
  78.                normal detection routine doesn't find it.

  104.                   status (on or off), port speed, data bits, parity,
  105.                   stop bits, IRQ, and device attached (modem and/or
  106.                   mouse)
  107. 1.74    10/92  Added on-line viewing and editing of SNOOPER.LOG via
  108.                external editor.  To use this feature, press <Alt-V> at
  109.                Snooper's main screen.  See editor-naming requirements
  110.                below.
  111. 1.73    10/92  Added on-line editing of CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT via
  112.                external editor.  To use this feature, press <Alt-E> at
  113.                Snooper's main screen.  The editor must be named
  114.                EDIT.COM, EDIT.EXE, or EDIT.BAT, and it may reside in the
  115.                current directory or on the path.  "Ed-It!" version 3.0
  116.                (a public domain editor, included) will open both files
  117.                at once in separate windows.  Other editors may only open
  118.                CONFIG.SYS.  Users can open AUTOEXEC.BAT with their
  119.                editors' Open File command.
  120. 1.72    10/92  Added on-line registration feature.  Press "F1" for help,
  121.                then "R" to print an order form.  You will be asked what
  122.                port to print the form to.
  123. 1.71    10/92  Snooper now shows you all valid drive letters, right next
  124.                to "Disk."  The current drive letter is highlighted and
  125.                capitalized.  I moved the volume label report down; it's
  126.                now the first disk report in the column.  Due to limited
  127.                screen space, I was forced to remove the total clusters
  128.                report (CHKDSK can tell you if you really need it).  
  129. 1.70    10/92  Added detection of Oak VGA cards.
  130. 1.69    10/92  Improved detection of Genoa VGA cards; Snooper should now
  131.                recognize more models.
  132. 1.68    10/92  Added detection of Logitech 6.10+, Mouse Systems, Genius
  133.                9.06, and Z-NIX 7.04d mice by name.  These may work with
  134.                earlier and/or later driver versions than are specified
  135.                here.  Rearranged mouse report slightly.
  136. 1.67    10/92  Added ability to paste Snooper's display to the Windows
  137.                clipboard using Shift-Delete.  The display is pasted as
  138.                text.
  139. 1.66     9/92  Snooper now gives up its timeslice under Windows, the
  140.                DOS-5 task switcher, etc., instead of constantly updating
  141.                its time display (just press the spacebar for an update).
  142. 1.65     9/92  Added timeout for IDE model routine to avoid locking
  143.                system.  Fixed bug that failed to report certain computer
  144.                types by name.
  145. 1.64     9/92  Added detection of VESA version.  Fixed bug that caused
  146.                256K VESA VGAs to report 3K.

  181.                floppy drives.  Floppy drives with no disks in them will
  182.                now report the drive type anyway.
  183. 1.43     2/92  Added ability of sequence keys to skip invalid drive
  184.                letters.  Now you can press <Up> to go from drive C: to
  185.                drive E: if you have no drive D: (you used to have to use
  186.                letter keys to access noncontiguous drives).
  187. 1.42     1/92  Added logic to detect invalid command line entries, which
  188.                cause Snooper automatically to show the invalid
  189.                characters on its syntax help screen.
  190. 1.41     1/92  Added Desqview mode switch, /D, to force Snooper to use
  191.                the BIOS when writing to the screen.  Snooper normally
  192.                detects Desqview and switches to this mode automatically
  193.                but some users may want to use it for other environments.
  194. 1.40     1/92  Expanded mouse report to always show serial plus the COM
  195.                port or IRQ level.
  196. 1.39     1/92  Implemented better game port detection.  It should work
  197.                on AT class machines now.  Also fixed minor bug that
  198.                caused the 01/10/84 IBM PC-AT not to be reported by name.
  199. 1.38     1/92  Fixed minor bug involving incorrect IRQ levels reported
  200.                by a certain mouse driver.  Fixed minor bug that caused
  201.                the mouse driver minor version to be reported
  202.                incorrectly.
  203. 1.37     1/92  Expanded single help screen to three, to show command
  204.                line syntax, keystrokes allowed in the program, and
  205.                shareware information.
  206. 1.36     1/92  Fixed math coprocessor detection lockup bug.  This may
  207.                have been the lockup problem, even though I was blaming
  208.                the CPU detection routines.  The /C and /M switches
  209.                finally may be obsolete.  (I hope, but let me know!) 
  210.                Implemented improved RAM disk detection logic.
  211. 1.35     1/92  Included Sncolors, a utility to change Snoopers colors,
  212.                in shareware version.
  213. 1.34     1/92  Fixed display of percent of used disk space, which
  214.                occasionally showed two decimal places.
  215. 1.33    12/91  Reduced memory use to 85K, making Snooper easier to shell
  216.                to from another program under cramped memory conditions
  217.                (aren't they all?).
  218. 1.32    11/91  Implemented detection of Sound Blaster, Adlib, and Roland
  219.                MPU-401 sound cards.
  220. 1.31    11/91  Added shell version for Novell networks, version for
  221.                Lantastic.
  222. 1.30    11/91  Added new switch, /M, which disables NDP (Math chip)
  223.                detection.  The /C compatibility switch now disables only
  224.                CPU detection and may no longer be needed.  If you are
  225.                having lockup problems with Snooper, specify both of
  226.                these switches, then one at a time, until you find the
  227.                one that will avoid the lockup.  Most users needn't worry
  228.                about this at all.
  229. 1.29    10/91  Added reports of serial and parallel port addresses.
  230. 1.28    10/91  Snooper will find its display (which it needs to in order
  231.                to log it) even if it has been moved via the Relocatable
  232.                Screen Interface Specification used by Desqview, Topview,
  233.                and Memory Commander.
  234. 1.27    10/91  After Snooper runs, it should now reset the cursor to the
  235.                same shape it was originally, not to a default shape.
  236. 1.26    10/91  Rewrote CPU and NDP detection routines in BASM (TP 6's
