  2. DOS PHANTOM V2.7 from P2 Enterprises
  3.  
  4.     DOS Phantom is a keystroke record-and-playback utility. Recordings
  5.     can be of any length and can be edited after recording.  Recordings
  6.     can be played back at high speed or with delays.  Playback can be
  7.     scheduled for a time in the future or invoked with a hot key.

  17. Note that V2.7 is identical to V2.6 but includes the DEMO file which was
  18. inadvertantly ommitted from the V2.6 kit.

  20. INSTALLATION:

  22.     Create a directory and unzip the PTM224.ZIP file into it.
  23.     Example:
  24.                   C:\> MKDIR PHANTOM
  25.                   C:\> CD PHANTOM
  26.                   C:\PHANTOM> UNZIP ..\PTM227

  28. DEMONSTRATION:
  29.  
  30.     Make sure you are in the directory containing the PHANTOM2.EXE and
  31.     DEMO files.  Then, type PHANTOM2 DEMO to run the demonstration.

  36.     See the file ORDER.FRM in this kit, or use CompuServe's registration
  37.     service (GO SWREG, registration ID 300).

  42.     - A tool for creating self-executing demos (with looping and
  43.     timeout features)
  44.     - A software testing tool (including screen and print capture)

  48. DOS Phantom recordings can be edited to include:
  49.     - Pop-up text windows
  50.     - Pop-up menus
  51.     - Pauses for user input

  55.         - appearance of a text string on the screen

  57. DOS Phantom recordings can be scheduled for playback
  58.     - daily
  59.     - weekly
  60.     - once only

  62. DOS Phantom provides facilities similar to the scripting languages of
  63. popular communications programs such as Procomm and CrossTalk, but
  64. applied instead to *your* computer rather than the one you are connected
  65. to over the phone line.  You can even use DOS Phantom to control a
  66. Procomm session instead of using Procomm's scripting facility.

  68. DOS Phantom is useful as a batch substitute, as a regression testing
  69. tool for software development, for creating demos of software, and for
  70. automating any task you perform repetively on your computer.

  73. DOS Phantom is shareware.  The registration fee is $25.00.  All features
  74. are present and active in the shareware version.

  76. Changes from the previous version:
  77.  
  78.    Version 2.1 of DOS Phantom fixes a bug introduced in V2.0 which
  79.    prevented ALT and CTRL keys from playing back correctly into some
  80.    application programs, including CIM (CompuServe Information Manager).
  81.  
  82.    Version 2.2 is a redistribution of V2.1 which corrects the fact that
  83.    obsolete versions of the TXT2PTM and PTM2TXT programs were included
  84.    in PTM221.ZIP.
  85.  
  86.    Version 2.3 adds support for the PHANTOMDIR environment variable, and
  87.    support for scheduled playback and hot-key initiated playback with
  88.    the programs SCHEDULE and HOTFILE.

  90.    Version 2.4 fixes two bugs reported just after version 2.3 was released.
  91.    Version 2.4 of PTM2TXT fixed a bug which caused the timings of certain
  92.    keystrokes (those with scan codes under 10h) to be set to zero.  Version
  93.    2.4 of PHANTOM2 fixes a problem where keystrokes were missed during
  94.    auto-repeat with typematic rates set above 15.  Minor changes were made
  95.    to the documentation.

  97.    V2.4 also introduces the MAKEPTM program for producing DOS Phantom
  98.    recordings from plain ASCII text files.

  100.    V2.5 fixes a bug in MAKEPTM which prevented processing files without
  101.    at least a 1 second line delay and incorporates changes to allow chaining
  102.    to another recording during playback.

  104.    V2.6 adds support for the F11 and F12 keys and their SHFT, CTRL, and ALT
  105.    variants and fixes a bug which caused the schedule to be corrupted when
  106.    the default RECORDNG.PTM file was used for recording.

  108.    V2.7 is identical to V2.6 but includes the DEMO file which was
  109.    inadvertantly ommitted from PTM226.ZIP.
