INSTRUCTIONS ON RUNNING THE ENCLOSED DEMOS

**************************************************************
This demo disk contains demos for CodeBase 5.0 and CodeScreens.
Listed  below are the names and descriptions of the programs used
to execute the demo programs.

These demo programs may be run from the demo launcher program
(DEMO.EXE) or by executing the file name. The source code files
for the CodeScreens and Windemo demo programs are found in the SOURCE
directory of the demo diskette.

DOS Examples ============


D4LIST.EXE

This demo can be run by typing d4list at the DOS prompt.  This program
lists out the records of a database to the screen.  For a detailed
overview on this program please consult the source code for D4LIST.EXE
located in the source directory.

DEMO.EXE

This Demo Launcher program, written with CodeScreens, can serve
as a launching point for all of the DOS demos. The Demo Launcher
also has a readme utility for reading and printing all of the
demo disk document files.

CID_MDX.EXE & CID_CDX.EXE

These programs are the Interactive CodeBase for DOS
programs. Using these programs you may "test drive"
most of the CodeBase 5.0 functions interactively.  You may use it
to create data and index files, browse the data, pack, zap,
reindex ... and just about anything else you wish.  The two different
versions are compiled for two different file formats: dBASE IV
(CID_MDX.EXE) and FoxPro 2.0 (CID_CDX.EXE).  dBASE III and Clipper
versions are also available. Contact our BBS if you wish to download
them.  Our 2400 baud modem line is [phone] and our 9600 baud line is

these demos.

CSDEMO.EXE

This demo is for CodeScreens, our C library for screen
management.  Running this interactive demo, you will get a feel
for the flexibility of the CodeScreens library.  The source code for
this demo is provided in CSDEMO.C.


Windows Examples ================

WINDEMO.EXE

This Microsoft Windows demo  contains both the Interactive CodeBase 5.0
and our Windows Browse/Edit utility.  This demo allows you to interactively
try out most of the CodeBase 5.0 functions and browse databases under
Microsoft Windows.  You may execute this program from the Windows File
Manager, using the File | Run option, or by adding it to an
existing Windows group and double clicking it.  The source code for this
demo is provided in the INTERACT.C and BROWEDIT.C files.


Database & Index file Examples ================

Included with this demo disk is an example database file called DATAFILE.DBF.
This file contains example data in Xbase format, which can be accessed from
either of the CID examples or from WINDEMO.EXE.

Also included are two index files. DATAFILE.MDX is of Dbase IV format, and
DATAFILE.CDX is of FoxPro 2.0 format.  Use these files or create your own from
CID.
