  3. Welcome to The Guide!

  6. This quickie start-up file will help you get your system up and running.
  7. For more details on what's going on, print the file [ GUIDE.DOC ].

  13. 1) Un-zip the arhcive TGxxx.ZIP into one directory ( ie, C:\GUIDE )
  14.      and change into that directory ( ie, [ CD C:\GUIDE ] )
  15.  
  16. NOTE:     If you are upgrading from a previous release, I suggest you simply
  17.           purge your old files first ( ie, [ DEL *.* ] ), since many changes
  18.           have been made in the system.

  24. 2) Install the articles -- type [ UPDATE /AUTO ].  The system will process
  25.      the supplied articles, then return to the DOS prompt.
  26.  
  27. NOTE:     Data loading may take a few minutes (especially on slower systems,
  28.           and those without disk caching).  GuideNET Update displays a status
  29.           window to show its progress (ie, what entry number, file name, and
  30.           article name it's currently processing).

  32.      When it has finished, Update displays the number of articles added
  33.      into the system.

  38. 3) Load The Guide! by typing [ GUIDE ].
  39.  
  40. 4) Browse through the index:
  41.      A) Move the selection bar up or down either with the mouse and scroll-
  42.           bar, or by using the [ Home, End, PgUp, PgDn, Up, Dn ] keys.
  43.      B) When you have highlighted the desired entry, select <O>k to view
  44.           the article (by either pressing [Enter] or clicking [ OK ]).

  48. GUIDE.DOC is also included as an input article, so you may optionally print
  49. the documentation from within The Guide! itself.

  51. INFO.NEW explains what's been added or enhansed in this release of The
  52. Guide!.  This is in entry format, which may be updated into the system for
  53. on-line viewing and printing.
