Enter the Call Support Layer Target Name. The name can
include any alphabet, numeric and special characters.

Configure Connection
Enter these parameters from your completed SNA Links Connection

SNA Links Connection Name
Enter the name you assigned to the LAN location you want to
establish a connection with.
Remote SNA Network ID
Enter the ID for the entire SNA network to which the local server
is attached.

Remote LU Name
Enter the name of the LU that has been defined for the SNA Links
server at the destination location.
Mode Name
Enter the SNA mode table entry to be used for the connection.
Timeout (seconds)
Enter the time allowed in seconds for a connection to be made.
The default is 30 seconds. If a connection is not made in the
time specified, SNA Links stops attempting to make the connection.

Automatic Connection
Enter Yes to select AutoConnect to keep the connection active
if it goes down.
Press <Esc> after you enter the connection parameters until the

Enter Network Number Range
You can specify a range of network numbers to be used by SNA Links.
When you enter a network number, be sure it is in hexadecimal.
Follow these steps:
1. Type the "From" number and press <Enter>. Refer to the Network
Numbers Worksheet for this number.
2. Type the "To" number and press <Enter>.
3. Press <Esc> until the Save Database Changes window appears.

Configure SNA Links Profile

Enter the name designated to represent an SNA Links Profile
defined for a specific local router location.
Local LU Name
Enter the name of the LU defined to the SNA network.

NetWare For SAA Profile Name
You may update an existing profile or create a new one. To

Enter Yes if you want to save the system diagnostics information
when you exit SNA Links. Enter No if you don't want to save the

Diagnostics File Name
Enter the filename where you want to store the system diagnostics
information. The default filename is \SYSTEM\SNALKS.DND.

Log File Name
Enter the filename where you want to store all system console
messages. The default filename is \SYSTEM\SNALKS.LOG.
Pacing
Enter the maximum number of request units (RU) (the pacing window)
that the local LU can receive without sending a pacing response
on sessions for the specified mode name. The range is 0 to 63.
The default is 2. (WARNING: If pacing is set to 0, out-of-buffer
conditions can occur in the SNA network. To avoid this, you will
need to tune your SNA network.)

RU Size
Enter the range of maximum request unit (RU) sizes that may
be used by sessions that have this mode name. The range is
1 to 4096. The default is 768 bytes.
Transport Time
Enter the number of ticks allotted for a packet to travel
through the SNA network. A tick is 1/18 of a second. The
range is 1 to 254. The default is 18.

NetWare for SAA SDLC Profile Configuration
Enter these parameters from your completed SNA Links Profile
Configuration Worksheet:
SNA Network ID
Enter the ID for the entire SNA network. This ID is specified
in the SAA service profile.
Peripheral Node Control Point Name
Enter the name of the SNA peripheral node control point (PNCP).
In SNA terms, the server is a peripheral node. This node contains a
software entity called a control point that controls the resources
of the SNA peripheral node.

SDLC Control Unit Address
Enter the two-digit hexadecimal address sometimes known as
the PU address. This number corresponds to the ADDR= field in
the Network Control Program (NCP) customization, or to the
STNADR station address for the AS/400 in the controller
description. The default is C1.
SDLC Adapter Type
Select Primary or Alternate. Choose the setting that corresponds
to the adapter type setting specified when the adapter and driver
were installed.

SDLC Encoding Option for Interface Board
Select NRZ or NRZI. (Note that the parameter in VTAM and the
Network Control Program (NCP) is NRZI= YEs or No, where No
means NRZ.) In an AS/400 line description, the default is
NRZI= YEs.
NRZI ensures a signal change every six bits to guarantee bit
synchronization, regardless of record length.

Connection Type
Select Non-Switched or Switched. Choose the appropriate line
type. (A switched line is usually a standard telephone line
going through a phone switch. A nonswitched line is a
dedicated leased line.)
Hold Request to Send (RTS) Continuously
SDLC uses the Request to Send (RTS) signal to prepare the
modem for transmitting data. Select Yes if you want the
SDLC driver to hold the RTS high all the time, in order to
provide faster communication line turnaround between the
server and the remote host.

Block ID
Enter a three-digit hexadecimal SDLC block ID. This number
corresponds to the IDBLK setting in the Network Control
Program (NCP).
PUID for SDLC Connection
Enter a five-digit hexadecimal PUID. This number is required for
switched lines. The default is 00000. (This number corresponds to
the IDNUM value in SYS1.VTAMLST.)
NOTE: For the AS/400, the block ID is the first three digits of
the EXCHID, and the PUID is the last three digits of the EXCHID
of the remote controller.

PU 2.1 Link Station Role
Select Negotiable or Secondary. This field specifies the
SDLC link station role relative to the host link. Note that
for a point-to-point configuration, you select Negotiable;
for a multilink configuration, you select Secondary.

Configure Dedicated LUs

The Dedicated LU specified using this option must not be previously configured as a Dedicated LU or included as
part of an LU Pool. Dedicated LUs are specified with the Dedicated LU name.

Configure LU Pools
Select this option if you want to configure LU Pools. An LU
Pool is a collection of LUs that have been grouped together
under a common name. The LUs in an LU Pool must all be of
the same type (1, 2, or 3) and can be non-contiguous.
LU Pools are typically used to allocate a collection of LUs
for use by a particular group -- for example, marketing. LU
Pools can be secured so that only the members of a specified
group can access the LUs in a Pool.
The LUs specified as part of the LU Pool must not be previously configured as Dedicated LUs or included as part of another LU Pool. The LU Pool is specified with the LU Pool name, and the
LUs in the Pool are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis. Page 2 of 3
Configure Range of Public LUs
Select this option if you want to configure a range of Public LUs. Public LUs are typically unsecured LUs that can be
used by any user. The LUs specified in the range must all
be of the same type (1, 2, or 3) and can be non-contiguous.
Configure Single Public LU
Select this option if you want to configure a single Public LU. Public LUs are typically unsecured LUs that can be
used by any user.

Select Yes if you want to generate an SAA

From this list you can select a communication server to
