  1.           Mystery Echo Rules (revised: 07-Nov-91)

  3. The Mystery conference (area tag "MYSTERY") is for the discussion of
  4. literary works of the mystery genre, with excursions into spy and
  5. thriller as necessary and so long as not too intrusive.  We're not
  6. sure we can precisely define the difference anyway.  Brief
  7. digressions onto other topics are always welcome.  Please do not,
  8. however, post fiction to the echo.  The echo is for discussion.
  9.   
  10. Discussion of film and television members of the genre is, currently,
  11. permitted; the use of "literary" above is to preserve the option of
  12. excluding them later, IF the volume of traffic on video mystery
  13. becomes large enough that it interferes with the literary part of the
  14. discussion.  I have no idea if this will become a problem or not, I'm
  15. just hedging my bets.

  17. This echo is for civilized, reasonably mature, discussion.  Personal
  18. attacks and vilification will not be tolerated.
  19.  
  20. Please do not send complaints about rules violations through the
  21. echo.  First, that's my job as moderator.  Second, if you MUST
  22. enter your own complaint, please do so via netmail directly to the
  23. person responsible.  That saves all the rest of us the time and money
  24. to move your message all over the world.  (Remember that my message
  25. may well have gone netmail directly to the offender, so the lack of
  26. complaints in the echo doesn't show that I'm not doing anything.)

  28. If you think I'm falling down on the job, and want to nudge me, send
  29. me netmail rather than posting in the echo.  Think of sending me
  30. netmail as sending a letter to your Congressman, and posting
  31. complaints in the echo as taking out a full-page ad in the New York
  32. Times to air your complaint.  Consider what each costs....
