  5. - Purpose:
  6.  
  7. These rules are established in accordance with current Zone 1 Echomail
  8. Backbone Operating Procedures and Guidelines for conference participation on
  9. the FidoNet backbone.
  10.  
  11. - Conference History:
  12.  
  13. GoldED is a multipurpose message editor/reader written by Odinn Sorensen
  14. (2:231/77).  The GoldED echomail conference (Areatag GOLDED) was established
  15. by Odinn Sorensen, originally to have a convienent way for Odinn to
  16. communicate with users and obtain bug reports and suggestions.  As GoldED
  17. grew and distribution became more widespread, GOLDED was added to the FidoNet
  18. Zone 1's backbone distribution.  By appointment of Odinn Sorensen, I have
  19. assumed the duties of echo moderator and, as such, am documenting the rules
  20. and procedures for conference participation.

  22. - Conference Scope:

  24. GOLDED was established to have a forum for discussion of the GoldED message
  25. editor.  It is for comments, suggestions, hints, questions, bug reports and
  26. just about anything relating to the setup and operation of the current
  27. release version of GoldED.

  29. Information on GoldED can be found here ranging from the very basic to
  30. advanced and intricate configurations.  Discussions will occasionally stray
  31. to mailers and BBS's and how GoldED interacts with each.  All participants
  32. are welcome!

  34. - Confernce Rules Specifics:
  35.  
  36. 1.  Stick to topics captioned above in "Conference Scope".
  37.  
  38.     1.a.  Please note that this area is for discussion of the latest
  39.           RELEASE version of GoldED.  Let's not discuss Beta versions
  40.           in here.

  42. 2.  Please use REAL NAMES.  Save your handle for more appropriate message
  43.     areas.
  44.  
  45. 3.  Leave the moderating to the moderator.  If you spot a message that is not
  46.     appropriate for the echo, just ignore it.  90% of the time I will handle
  47.     this type of message in Netmail, where it belongs.  Just because you don't
  48.     see any action from the moderator doesn't mean it's not there.

  50. 4.  I have a VERY low tolerance for Flames and the act of Flaming others.  I
  51.     will usually only send one warning to a participant who insists on flaming
  52.     in the echo.  Personal Attacks will not be tolerated.
  53.  
  54. 5.  Show a little courtesy to others.  Be helpful and remember that all
  55.     suggestions and hints to better operate GoldED are welcome.
  56.  
  57. 6.  Limit the use of quotes. Quote only the lines that are absolutely
  58.     nescessary for others to find out what is being discussed.

  60. 7.  Comments to these rules and complaints/comments to the moderator
  61.     must be sent via netmail ALWAYS!

  64. ahead of the rest, let's help keep it that way and support the excellent work
  65. Odinn has done.
