  1. This is the Adam FidoNet EchoMail Conference.  It is carried
  2. on the FidoNet "Backbone" distribution system and uses the
  3. EchoMail "tag" of ADAM.  It is listed in the official FidoNet
  4. EchoList.
  5.  
  6. Each conference distributed by the FidoNet backbone distribution
  7. system must have a moderator.  I am the moderator of the Adam
  8. conference and I can be reached via netmail at FidoNet address
  9. 1:3608/1.  I can also be reached by calling "221B Baker Street"
  10. BBS at (904) 871-6536 or by voice at (904) 871-6532.  My mailing

  14. The rules of the ADAM conference are simple:
  15.  
  16. 1. Don't be easily annoyed.
  17. 2. Don't be excessively annoying.
  18. 3. Keep to the topic of the conference.
  19. 4. Aliases aren't permitted (see below).
  20. 5. FidoNet origin lines are required.
  21.  
  22. Don't be easily annoyed.  Try to remember that messages
  23. may sound more harsh than the sender intended.  Unlike
  24. face-to-face conversations, we can't see expressions in
  25. messages.  That's why some folks use "smiley faces" :-)
  26. or <grin> to emphasize that they are just kidding or
  27. that they aren't to be taken seriously.  Also, it's
  28. possible to disagree with a person's position on an
  29. issue without disliking the person.
  30.  
  31. Don't be annoying.  The messages you post are being addressed
  32. to real live people with human feelings.  Be nice.  Other
  33. annoying things include the use of profanity or quoting someone
  34. else's profanity verbatim; non-compliance with general echo
  35. policies; the use of "high-end" characters (those which have
  36. "ASCII" values above 127) in echo messages; advertisements
  37. (but see the following); posting of derogatory messages;
  38. and non-compliance with a moderation message.

  40. Advertisements for ADAM hardware, ADAM software, ADAM BBSs,
  41. ADAM user groups, ADAM user group meetings, and ADAM
  42. newsletters ARE permitted.

  44. It is considered impolite to use all upper case when posting
  45. messages because the text is hard to read and it looks to most
  46. people as if you were shouting.
  47.  
  48. Each message must contain the full (real) name of the
  49. originator.  If the name shown in the "FROM" block is a
  50. "handle" or "alias", then the real name of the originator
  51. must be shown in the body of the message.  Real names in
  52. the "FROM" block are preferred.
  53.  
  54. This is a FidoNet-origin conference, the use of official
  55. Zonegates into other networks is required.  The FidoNet address
  56. of systems which are members of more than one network must be
  57. shown on the origin line of messages posted from those systems.
  58. The alternate address may also appear.
